Must admit I hate this sentiment. Is he any more risky than playing ****ing Joselu? No. Is it anymore risky than playing fresh air when Perez is injured?

We never give lads a chance and it’s exactly why someone like Gibson ****s off the first chance he gets. They know it’s a graveyard for young players now.

I agree what you say but if he played and it goes pear shaped Rafa gets stick and his confidence is forever dented. Joselu came in as a seasoned pro.

Having said that it’s quite possible army has scored more career goals than Joselu albeit at a slightly lower level.

Have highlighted this before but Joselu has a 1 in 3 goals to games ratio career wise. Obviously from his time in lower leagues but it does show he can score - people need to lay off of him - anyone would think he is Riviere or Gui'varch (or even Cordone).

A few years ago we signed Sibierski on a free - he scored 3 goals and was called a revelation - people then bang on about the low prices we pay where £5M is the equivalent of a free back then (near enough anyway) yet Joselu gets slated week in week out.

Now this is not me saying he should be starting or even in our squad but people need to start supporting our players especially those who give 100%

I guess this shows how stats are difficult to assess. According to Wiki, Joselu has 93 goals in 297 games so your right just less than 1 in 3 games.

However if you take away his two seasons in Segunda División B for Real Madrid where quite possibly he was surrounded by seriously good players (40 goals in 72 games) this equsates to 53 goals in 225 games. Which is less than 1 in 4 games.

For the record, I read that Joselu was also played alongside Morata in that Segunda División B team........

    Interesting eh!

But even then 1 in 4 is not bad for a workhorse! Or is he a confidence player and playing at our club with our fans no wonder our strikers have zero confidence.

Look at the ****ty comments about Rondon being given the no. 9 shirt!

Another thing to factor into the equation is the fact that we are not an attack minded side. We are a defense minded side at present because of the circumstances and therefore we do not create that many chances for him to score.

Its a bit unfair to compare someone who gets 3 chances in 3 games to score 1 goal when someone like Lukaku gets 6 chances in 1 game to score 2. (Does that make sense this early in the day)

I have seen a lot of NUFC fans harper on about us needing strikers and a number 10 when IMO we actually need a stronger midfield who can control the game better and create more chances. Having 35% possession on average is a style of play which limits chances conceded but also chances created.

For example, I used to play as a striker at lower league levels (really low league). I did not see myself as a good player but I was like **** off a stick (fast) and I played in a very good technical side so basically they used to pick wholes in teams defenses and I would just nash past the defenders and ping it in the net. I was a one trick pony. I scored **** loads because they where really good midfielders but the stats said I scored on average 2 in most games (honestly that was about the average when is was 23).

    Just for people to note.

1 in 3 playing 38 PL games is 13 goals.

1 in 4 playing 38 PL games is 9/10 goals.

Most on here, I would guess, would be happy if we had a player in the team who scored 13 goals in one season.

oh sorry, forgot we are a whole under 23 squad down now with no replacement

    Adam Armstrong:

“The last few days have been the hardest in my career.

“I have decided to leaved the club I have supported since I was a young boy, as my dad and his dad did before me.

“I’m proud to have been able to wear the black and white shirt and will treasure those memories forever.

“I will still support Newcastle for the rest of my life and wish the club the best for the future.

“My new team and team mates await me and I can’t wait to start continuing the success we built on last season.

“Blackburn are like Newcastle a fantastic club with an amazing fan base and a local community that wants success and I hope I can help in building something great.

“It’s an exciting time ahead and I can’t wait to get started.”
