Thought I'd bump this thread on the strength of the Herald report today from Starnes. Plymjools will be along dreckly to put up the link. The forecast is to break even by the end of the season which is a far cry from the above posting of losses for last season. I see no problem with maintaining the finances this season as long as the team continue to perform on the pitch. Generally there is a rise in attendance if the club are doing well and looking remotely like they might be in a promotion race. Currently they are so would expect a few more on Saturday and if they win that and get a point in mid week then a further rise the following Saturday. It's keeping those extra bums on seats that is the secret. I also read on pasoti that it looks like Exeter on the other hand might be in for another PFA loan for November/December. If that's the case it will kill them in January with a transfer embargo and especially if they get more injuries. There is a certain amount of glee being expressed over there which I don't share even if it is Exeter. I don't wish financial calamity on any club. We need league football teams in Devon so Argyle have a vested interest in what happens to Torquay and Exeter. The loss of Bristol and Torquay as a fixture for us this season is a lot of brass lost because there would have been big(ish) crowds for both. Lose Exeter as well would be a blow and Argyle supporters should realise that.
Any Argyle fan expressing glee at a football club struggling has a short memory, although describing the Greasies as a football club is pushing it I admit but they do scrape into that catagory..just. Hopefully they can get through this without too much suffering especially to their employees. On a positive note maybe we can pick up a couple of bargains in January
I agree, as much as I have an irrational dislike of things Exeter(not just the football ground) I wouldn't want them to be relegated and certainly wouldn't wish any small club to go bust. Perhaps an agonizingly painful poor season and surviving by goal difference on the last day of the season would suit everyone!
Bleddy hell mexijan I thought you'd been kidnapped or gone down fighting at the Alamo......... I have never cared much what Exeter have or haven't been doing and doubt I ever will. I'm more interested on what happens to my club and that includes revenue from local derbies. I might blink a bit if Exeter went on a run of good fortune up the leagues but that would be out of incredulity rather than it being our close rivals.
