According to them we haven't lost at home in the Champions League for eight years. It has only been five months since United beat us at home and before that it was Barcelona in February 2006. They try to appear like statistical geniuses with their new "Did you know" boxes, yet they cannot even get a simple win/loss record correct.

Makes me wonder if any of them are right now or if they just put any random boring numbers up and hope that nobody will bother to check. According to them, last weekend Stoke vs Liverpool finished 1-1 and Spurs at one point were winning 3-0.

Sorry to come away from purely football but there is no other way to answer this.

The BBC has been abused by successive Governments, mainly because when it was truly independent it kept discovering each Governments embarrassing secrets. The reining in of the BBC began under Margaret Thatcher who behaved almost as a dictator given that she had a massive mandate from the country's electorate. The BBC was at that time indeed in need of re-organisation and overhaul and this was recognised by everyone therefore when changes were enforced on it by Government there was at first little resistance.

Now The BBC is strictly under the thumb of Government although the official line is that it is as independent as ever which simply is not true. Consequently it suffered a brain drain in talent and technicians. It is no longer considered the acme of all broadcasters or journalists. A lot of grass roots is still there, but under severe strain. That being the local and national radio services it provides. This is still the breeding and training ground, but the BBC can no longer hold on to the talents it produces, and this goes for editors, producers, camera operators all the way down to production assistant and wardrobe and make up and as you have discovered continuity.

The BBC isn't stupid, the Governments we've had since the 70's are. Television (and radio) have massive impact on society and our civilisation and there is a case that ministers are simply not expert enough to run it. Ever since Television was widely available it has been used as a tool for exploitation and by the State and exploited itself. To me Television has the power of a hydrogen bomb and has been handled by people thinking it is more like a home tool kit of hammer, screwdriver and wood saw.

What we have now is a BBC that no longer has the resources to provide the care to the population a State sponsored organisation should provide. It has become a magazine type organisation. If the State wants to control it closer they should also realise their responsibility to the people becomes greater and they simply haven't done this. More power, no extra responsibility is the order of the day. If any more proof is needed you are currently posting on not606 and NOT 606.

Christ Bear, you seem to be really informed and passionate about this. Sounds like the Beeb is really meaningful to you in ways that I don't think I could possibly understand at my age and experience.

I think the big things are worth fighting for, not the piddling small stuff that makes up the detritus of life. Control of the Media is huge power and it's being pissed away or given over to self interest owners. I'm no communist, I believe in free press and individual ownership of media outlets, for we all should have enough sense to know that editorial contain agendas. Yet in this country we had also the sense to use this incredibly tool as powerful force for good and not just self promotion and it's being destroyed by politicians who are notorious for claiming they work for public good but their actions show them to be all self promoting.

Football is now in the thrall of the Media. It is what UEFA and FIFA pander to. It's is why wages and prices are so inflated. It is why marketing strategy calls the shots over pure sporting strategy and why this debate is on a football post board.

It is also why the BBC mods removed several of my posts from the old 606 board. When I questioned them why and insisted on specifics, I was told that actually I hadn't posted anything wrong, but that people replying to my posts could libel themselves. Think about that.......................... I could simply post 'Hello everyone' and someone could reply to that in a libellous way. In other words they censored me just because they didn't want my words in a public forum they controlled. It was wrong of them, but sort of shows how important and indeed how sensitive the Media is and the power of the editor.

To answer your question , then yes. You only have to gauge the intelligence of the people in front of the camera. For instance, last season I was watching The football league show just after MOD had ended. That tool Manish stated that Hereford made the short trip to neighbours..........LINCOLN! FFS. Its on the other side of the country you almost could not get further apart from east to west. Anyhow if they can get that wrong then what else. The mind boggles.

Reading and absorbing what the BBC spout is like getting tips from a gay man on how to have sex with women.

They have started up "Planet Dinosaur", which, in line with every Archaeological TV programme made in the last few years, to my mind is just another veichle to enforce capitalist ideals and stereotypes we are (not even sub-consciously anymore) trained to adhere to... I mean, how do they think that we could possibly have had about twenty different species similar to T-Rex? By cross-****ing of course, yet, mark my words, you'll see Daddy-dinosaur with a Mummy of the same species... Is it so hard to show an Andesaurus banging a Paralititan, or a Spinosaurus making sweet music with an Abelisaurus? How about male on male just to show kids that's ok too? where's the evidence that didn't happen? I mean, archaeology being the bullshit phenomenon of the world, I suspect they could say whatever they want and show a prehistoric human fighting a giant vampire dodo...

And less of the we've found one bone, so here's a dramatic interpretation of what some crack-pot thinks from the non-evidence...

Leave that to Channel 5 please. They can have Pat Nevin doing voice-over while he isn't in use so much...
