I agree. They'd expect £10million, he'd expect 40-60k a week, and he'd have little or no impact. No chance are we gonna sign him.
Well lets be honest about this a minute, under raffa he didnt really get a chance and i believe he was injured, then under woy no one played well, never mind just him, then he went to juventus and was class. So tbh i am not sure how bad he actually is in the PL for liverpool, as when he did play, not many others played well either. So he did get MOM and applauded off the pitch, so he was not totally inept.
He was never a great player for Roma mate, Liverpool went for De Rossi, Roma said 'no way, but....' Outstanding for Juve he was not. He was okay, scored a few (pens), but Juve were awful throughout last season, and not only did they reject the option of taking him at the pre-arranged price (a ridiculous £16million), they also didn't bother with a lower bid, despite splashing money about this summer getting a competitive team ready for the move to the new stadium.

I've never said he was crap, personally mate, he's far from it. And the blame on Juve's slump was not his fault, it was the whole team, they were pitiful to a man, hence a huge rebuilding job and a new coach, they were desperate for CL football for the new stadium (magnificent, like an English ground, potential crowd issues, surely though?), and they were woeful.
yeah other members have said he was crap, you never did, and it was never meant for you personally. honestly though i fought my corner for weeks over Brown when most on here said he was ****e, we have got him, lets see how he does, but i am not going to do the same with this player, as i just dont think he will come, even if Liverpool accept the bid, but if he did come i believe he would be a great benefit to us, but its not going to happen.
No, won't happen, and whether he'd be an asset or not, we don't need to splash the kinda money he'd cost on a player who may or may not make an impact here.
I still reckon he's crap steve and he won't come to us anyway so fairly academic. He is good in Italy but not good enough for us or PL, some players just can't adapt to PL look at Riveros for us world beater to panel beater in one season. If he is better than all those you mentioned why are those players in demand and he isn't?
But we have the money, and surely every player has that problem, may or may not make an impact, you just never know until they get a run in the side, look at messi for Argentina, he hardly ever makes an impact, but for barca he is amazing, you just never know with any player in any giving team. In demand by us and stoke, yeah right. And sorry i know riveros has gone out on loan, but he has never ever been a world beater, not even for Paragauy, decent yes, world beater, never in a million years.

People saying he 'flopped' obviously didn't watch him when he actually played for us. Maybe he was a waste because he was injured, finally got back to playing, scored a few goals and was then replaced by Roy with Christian ****ing Poulson. Sorry. It's the Poulson condition again.
A scouse mate of mine recons he is a very good player who just didn't get a chance at LFC. My concern is are we really looking for another CM. Its a winger and a striker we need. Time will tell but I'd have him here.
£14m is a massive rise for a player not proven in this league, I read somewhere yesterday that last season was the 1st time in his career he has managed to play over 20 games in one season, so his injury record must be awful!

To be honest I hope we keep him. I think we will. - He hasn't been bought in Italy. - He's fit again. - Direct cover for Gerrard in the advanced midfield role. - Plays pass and move football. - Meireles may be leaving.
I feel that we only have one more big signing to be made, and that will more than likely be on a striker and not a midfielder.
