    Sunderland seek Aquilani

There are reports Liverpool could send unsettled Alberto Aquilani to Sunderland for £14m after his move to Juventus fell through.

The Italy international said several times he wanted to remain in Serie A, but the Bianconeri did not take up their option after a season there on loan.

It’s now reported Sunderland are willing to pay £14m to take Aquilani off Liverpool’s hands.

The Black Cats are said to be in negotiations with the Anfield side, beating competition from Tottenham.

Aquilani showed in his season at Juve that he has recovered from the numerous injury problems that plagued the last few years at Roma and Liverpool.

I read that a bit earlier but didnt post it as its wrote here http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/63870-Stolen-off-the-BBC. not the exact same version but close enough.

As for the player, i was not interested that much this morning, but its been growing on me all day, and i would love to get him in now.

Not sure if the PL is too fast/not enough space for him though.

    would be a class signing

Aquilani is a top top player and was briliant last season for Juventus

was unlucky at Liverpool with his injuries but the times I actually seen him he seemed to create things for the others.

Would certainly be a statement signing but cannot see it happening

If he plays like he did for Juventus, excellent business, but thats the problem, we wont know until we buy him. (or someone else does)

Nah not for me, not strong enough and dont think we need another midfielder.

He's been a complete waste of money for liverpool and would be a massive risk for any english club who buys him

If we were seriously interested in him, surely it would have been mentioned in amongst the Henderson transfer (like Ngog was)

I just think its journalists/agents looking who are spending money and linking us to him

Well Juventus wanted him then, they had a deal in place to buy him for 13 million euro over 3 seasons, but new owners have come in and scuppered the deal.

he had a 90% pass success rate in Juventus last season, and he was supposed to be outstanding in a blog i read (its in the link i posted above), but whether or not thats the pace of the italian league or just happy there i dont know.

If this happens I will eat my own head!!

Surely we arent looking at another central midfielder and 14m can be much better spent in my opinion (kranjcar and hutton would do me nicely)

How about season long loan with a view to a permanent contract if he performs? he can play in the hole behind Gyan, great playmaker.

Far too much of a risk for me, £14m Is a helluva lot of money and we can't afford to take risks like that. A season long loan ? Yes please.

What if it was £14 million paid over 3 seasons, the exact same deal that Juventus had. so £4.66 million a season.

    Liverpool fan in peace.

I can't see this one happening. He performed extremely well in Italy and many Liverpool fans can see him coming back to Liverpool and playing. Kenny Dalglish has also said that he would happily have him back at Anfield. So, I really can't see this one happening. Football is a strange game though...

Anyway, good luck for next season. You seem to be buying good quality players and I can see you doing very well next season.

Yeah, he's played for big teams but that doesn't mean he'd be a good signing.

Massive wages, large transfer fee and he was ****ing ****e at Liverpool. They don't want rid for nothing.
