Either way, he has my respect for knuckling down and not saying a bad word about Liverpool which he could quite easily have done. Still think he would have been more than useful in that role just behind the main striker. I agree with you on these points for sure.
The same could also be said about Xabi Alonso and the Barry Saga. Prior to this, Alonso was struggling for form and we were right to try and offload him. Then Xabi had his best season (trying to put himself in the shop window?) - we managed to get a great season out of him and sold him for £30m which was a win win situation. There is another article about us not being so ruthless with players - perhaps we should make them stay for at least one more year because they will be more determined to play well to secure a move elsewhere. If this comes off, then the value of the player will increase as well.
