Well done Ardent. I hope 2012 is as successful as 2011. Nice to see you have your own web site set up now. I spent virtually all my life in IT but never got round to web design. I often wonder how you do that. How much does it cost to set something up and what design tools do you use? I am dead against writing code but I haven't seen any web design tools that don't require coding. I build all my PC based systems in MS Access as it's all about design with no coding needed; I'm waiting for something similar for web design.

Hi Ron u can use the standard weebly design tools...its as easy as that...a very amateur attempt I'm afraid. If things go well I have a friend who will set something pretty decent up for a couple of hundred. Having not been part of any forums on the past I was sceptical of trying this but I have to say I'm very impressed by the level of knowledge and the conduct of the members.

    Hi Ron

seen your post about web design. Last two years I have been studying it and it is amazing what can be done compared to using standard tools like weebly as Ardent says. DREAMWEAVER is very good web design software if you don't have knowledge of coding. Of course it helps to know a bit of coding to use it to an advanced level but the purpose of dreamweaver is a WYSIWYG editor and a decent site can be knocked up, rather easy to connect it to databases as well. Love the programming side of IT atm ;)

btw Ardent very well done with the system

Cheers RV. I started off as a programmer, but in those days it was a very low level language and often we used to patch the computer with octal or binary code. You could do anything then. Not very secure mind you but in those days taking advantage of such openings never occurred. Could have made a bomb thinking about it.

Not a bad day with 3 out of 4 going in. Pale Orchid won like the proverbial good thing 8L and i was glad to get the 2/5 as 2/9 wasn't an option. Spartilla won nicely 3L, and was a big price i felt at 11/8sp, we'll take that with the BOG option. Heather Royal 4/9 done the job but the mare wasnt impressive, the 2nd strongly Suggested looks a progressive sort.

    Well Done again Ardent <applause>

Do you ever do forecasts from the ratings you use? I only ask as you would have had one there!

Cliffy..thanks....i'm pleased you noticed i had posted the ratings on the website i intend to continue this....the ratings range 0-120ish...120 is elite your looking at the Frankels and Kauto Stars attaining the top end 120+ mark...its a points based system so the same ratings fit both flat and NH.....forecasts a bit high risk for me i'm afraid....its about getting a margin against the books that can be maintained over a long term period....presently i'm managing that but i'll just wait and see how things work out...over the next few months.... thankyou again

For the races where you have a selection it would be interesting to see the Timeform Ratings. Imagine seeing a Timeform 5lb clear rated odds on shot beaten by your 3lb clear rated 5/1 shot (no idea what the ratings were by the way). But it would certainly look good in your advertising, along with some of the testimonies from the thread.
