Would prefer him to Pelle EDIT - but we will end up with Pelle as first choice and Bendtner as back up, with Zamora floating around somewhere aswell
No thanks - he is up there with Carlton Cole, Kenwynne Jones and Shola Ameobi in the big-blouses-that-don`t-put-themselves-about-enough category.
Not sure what everyone's got against Pelle. He's scored almost a goal a game for the last 2 seasons. I know people will quote those who have failed when they've come from the Dutch league, but apart from the discipline stuff, Suarez came direct from the Dutch League and became world class. Also many of the Feyernord team are in the Dutch squad that are doing so well at the World Cup. I for one would welcome the signing of Pelle particularly as Ronald knows him so well.
IF he did sign, I very much doubt he'd be the first choice striker. Said enough times last season that we had sod all striker backup in the squad. We needed some experience to call upon when the first choice were injured or out of sorts. Doubt Osvaldo will return, who knows what will happen with Mayuka either, so we need more forward players and perhaps, just perhaps Bendtner or someone like him could become a useful member of the squad. Or "we" could just write him off completely before seeing him play for us like "we've" done so many times before and been completely wrong.
To test his professionalism, if Koeman is interested he could offer Bendtner a trial, see what his attitude is in training, relationship with other players and if things work out then maybe. It is not as if a huge number of clubs are falling over themselves to sign him up. He must have some talent otherwise why Arsenal have signed him up in the first place and for such a long period of time. I suspect the problem with Bendtner is his attitude. Needs to have a word with himself about the need to knuckle down.
He would be the biggest of all gambles. I don't think we can risk the potential/likely disruption he could cause. Not so bad when we risked Dani, as he came into a strong group. I'd also see how his minutes played per season stats look
Surely this story must be a joke mad up by the Saints hating media to make us look stupid and desperate
I wouldn't write it off as a bad idea......he has history of being a dick, but someone like Koeman may be what he needs to bring him in line. I believe he has talent, maybe not as much as he believes but given a run in a team (which he hasn't really had) he could prove a shrewd buy. But then again, I'm no football manager so what do I know really. I've never seen him train, and I've only really seen match of the day highlights for footage of him......
When has that EVER stopped anybody on Not606 from having a fully formed, irreversible, rock solid, concrete opinion on someone!?
Ha! Stupid of me. In that case, I'll say buy Bendner if only to get 50 reasons why we shouldn't from the Not606 crowd and so improve my football education ;-)
One thing's for sure, if he does come to us, I expect he will have to have a lower squad number than 52
I completely agree with CBK but I doubt Bendtner, the guy who scored 10 out of 9 in a self-confidence test, would be happy to come to Saints as backup.
Who do we have for strikers? I'm no fan of Bentner, but we need someone. J-rod is injured. Sure, he'll walk back into the team when he comes back from injury, but that's not til we've played about ten matches. Gallagher needs time to develop. Osvaldo needs to be offloaded ASAP. Which leaves... Mayuka?
Assuming Osvaldo will not be reporting back we only have Mayuka & Gallagher who have played 1st team football. Seager & Sinclair from u21s
