..about tonights match? Obviously it's been a right old moo being a Gooner over the last 8-9 months culminating in a proper ****e few weeks but I find myself really looking forward to tonight. Don't get me wrong, I'm not underestimating Shrewsbury who will (rightly) be hoping for an upset but I think we will approach this game in a whole new light which can only be a good thing. From what Arsene has implied this may well be the squad: --------------------Fabulounski----------------- ----Jenks--Mertesaacker--Miguel/Kos--Santos---- --------------Pingpong---Coquelin--------------- ---Oxocube----------------------------Ryo----- ----------------------------Park--------------- ------------------Chamakh--------------------- That squad is full of players who have ability and will be wanting to prove a point. Ryo and Oxocube are young lads with huge potential and are going to want to showcase their ability. Park doesn't strike me as the sort of player who'd ever put in a lazy shift and will undoubtedly want to impress. Chamakh too has had a couple of improving games and has broken his long dry spell with a cracking header against Blackburn. Add into the equation the likes of Pingpong who I can't see ever rolling over and you've got a very hungry squad there. I'd like to see Santos and Per play too just to get English football under their belts, not to mention match sharpness but who knows. I get the vibe that Wenger sees Gibbs as first choice but time will tell there. Wellity? Take a peep at that potential line up and tell me you're not feeling the slightest glimmer of optimism. Time to get some pride back lads. Oh yes, and I'm there so we'll definitely win .
With Mert (or was it merde?) and Kos AND Fab in goal - the shrews will love the chance to rub our noses in it.
I suspect that we will see Djourou and Miquel in the center of defence and Gibbs will also start. I would also like to see Aneke as I have heard very good reports. The 18 man squad for tonight as taken from Arsenal.com: Chuks Aneke, Yossi Benayoun, Daniel Boateng, Marouane Chamakh, Francis Coquelin, Johan Djourou, Lukasz Fabianski,, Emmanuel Frimpong, Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Damian Martinez, Ignasi Miquel, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Oguzhan Ozyakup, Ju Young Park, Ryo, Sanchez Watt, Nico Yennaris
But on the bright side, no sight of Almunia or Squillaci. I think Wenger had Almunia killed and his body buried in a shallow grave under one of the training pitches at London Colney.
I really want to see what the new trio can do, especially Miyiachi. That guy has some serious pace and can ghost past players on the left wing. I want to see him and OXOcubes bullet down the wings and cross it into new boy Park. Just imagine if these guys click? I would be tempted to bring them straight into our first team as apart from Van Persie, Vermaelen, Gervinho, Sagna, Wilshere and Chesny deserve first team spots. The rest can fight it out.
Hmm, that does kind of piss all over my defensive line up! Update time. --------------------Fabulounski------------------ ----Jenks-----Djourou------Miguel------Gibbs---- --------------Pingpong---Coquelin--------------- ---Oxocube----------------------------Ryo------ ----------------------------Park---------------- ------------------Chamakh--------------------- Benayoun on standby to add some needed experience if things go Arsenal on our arses! I also expect Aneke/Watt to get game time too. With the aerial ability of Chamakh and crossing ability of Oxocube and supposedly Ryo I'm quite excited. Add to that the rumour that Park is a freak in the air and we may see a very different approach than usual. IMO, can only be a good thing. As an aside, I refuse to get on Koscielny's back after two poor performances and it's far far too soon to start attacking Mertesaacker. Also, I thought that Fabianski was doing brilliantly last season right up until his injury. Poor lad.
If you're local they're still available. I was a bit late and had to get £20 ones - usually I'm a bit more on the ball for CC tickets. Meh, you'll probably hear me screaming like a ten year old girl if we're doing well. No matter where you live. Seriously.
Looks like a re - run of last year then against Orient. step one . put out a shocking team and draw....get the piss taken by other teams. step 2 put out a better team and win it. sigh, more of the same Arsene .............. really ?
The team I listed above isn't shocking and, with the greatest of respect to Shrewsbury, should be able to beat them comfortably at home. I'd rather have a squad of young, hungry players than the shell shocked bottlers we've had out recently.
Almunia? Not according to Arsenal.com. Reason being he's locked up in my garden shed until he promises to find another club and accept whatever ****ty wages they offer! Boo hiss to him (seriously, I can't believe he didn't go in the summer!).
it sounds to me as though you are all whistling to keep your spirits up, and if i was arsene i would play his weakest team to save any embarassment after the result, anyway he can play who he likes the score remains arsenal 1 shrews 3. and you heard this first here, it will probably be chucking it down in london by 20.00/20.30 tonight. we play better in the wet. i suspect the arsenal will win, its been a lot of fun over the last few weeks on your boards you will get over it, but more importantly so will the arsenal. come on you reds, tomorrow,!! floreat salopia amwythig am byth. come on you shrews show 'em how ti's done and breathe on 'em shrews never underestimate the quiet club , shrewsbury town!
Well I don't think anyone wanted him even in their garden sheds There are some players we have who will certainly be seeing out their contracts.
atcham jack, I would respond, but the immortal Bard has already done so for me.... "Think you a little din can daunt mine ears? Have I not in my time heard Lions roar? Have I not heard the sea, puffed up with winds, Rage like an angry boar, chafèd with sweat? Have I not heard great ordnance in the field And heaven's arrtilery thunder in the skies? Have I not in pitchèd battle heard Loud 'larums, neighing steeds, and trumpets clang? And do you tell me of atcham jack's tongue, That gives not half so great a blow to hear As will a chesnut in a farmer's fire?" Shakespeare, taken from The Taming of the Shrew
