Cause i need help quick. There is a substantial building straight across the road where i live with parking spaces, up for auction. Now i have watched quite a few property shows, & this would be ideal for a devoloper to turn into student flats. We have plenty of colleges & universities in Stoke, so this building would pay for itself rent wise within 5 years. So why do i need help i hear you ask? Well the only people i have seen, to come around for a viewing are, Well lets say certain taxi companies of a certain ethnic origin (not white). Now before you all start shouting racist bastard, everyone is entitled to open up a business, yes i agree this is a free society, & anyone can work where they want too. But lets look at where the property is? Its in the middle of a council estate surrounded by old peoples bungalows, if it did become a taxi place, would it be fair on the oldies with cars turning up all throughout the night? I dont think so. Now i've nothing against our fellow world brethren, but i think it could be much better served as a place where young students, will progress in life, due to the superb education available in Stoke-on_Trent. For those interested the auction will be held on the 17th of this month.
taxis or drunk students what would be worse! A taxi rank might even bring added security in the area for the old folk.
Kill all the old ****s,buy their pads, move the students into them and open a taxi rank across the road
where in stoke is the building huthy? Just to let you know though the student rental market in stoke is shoite. Its really struggling. A lot of people thought they would invest in it. The old dairy site across from hanley park, above cauldon college was 1. Near newland st and in stoke itself there were others All are struggling, some have been sold off as they were not making money. Basically the Uni owns loads of land and built student accomodation studies show that 1st year students take up the offer of uni accommodation, but like to have private accomodation with mates etc once they are settled hence all of bottom shelton is to let. There is one money making idea that can work, but I dont think the forum is the right place for it
well if you have proper connections to Keele University, they are allways after student accommodation, which they garuantee to fulfill.
dont know about that tbh As i have mentioned before, i used to work in regeneration, and in all honesty the student accomodation sites that I am aware of (couple mentioned before) are never full and have had to increase rents to break even. Really struggling where is it anyway? and are you interested?
not a chance although where is HE? If you notice I can be on here for a few days day and night then dissappear for a bit I could tell you why but ST would explode
Why did you have to bring race into this conversation at all? You will need a lot of cash to get into property development these days. The banks are not so hot on lending money for speculation when the market is moving south.
dont know about huthy but there are many an ignorant **** who have bought properties in Stoke on Trent to prevent people of certain ethnicities getting them There was hoo haa recently because an asian bloke wanted to open up a fish and chip restaurant. Funnily enough the place was a fish and chip shop that had been closed by its white owner. He applied for planning permission for it to have seating and the locals were in uproar The main complaint was the mess it would create. the fella was bemused asking what created more mess a fish and chip takeaway or restaurant similar thing with a pub, the locals bought it to prevent a bloke turning it into a restaurant. Now they have all fallen out and fighting
If it's a residential property then it has to be used for residing. If it's commercial then it will need to gain permission for "change of use" (assuming it's not already a taxi office) for whichever commercial use the buyer intends. This can be and often is refused due to considerations such as disturbing neighbours. If "travellers" buy it then good luck.
