That used to be the case but it has changed over the last 15 years. The night life is really busy now with lots of people coming down from London and the southern counties for nights out. The M25 is only 1hr 15 mins away and Waterloo station is 1hr 50 mins, so many londoners are here at weekends

Contrary to my name I've just moved to Addiscombe (for all you Croydon bound people). Moved down to Surrey when I was 7 and got picked on for my accent but never lost it completely and still live and breathe Newcastle. I want to retire on the Northumberland coast, surely one of the most beautiful parts of these fair isles. Get to all the London games and almost everything else is a bit too expensive travel wise when you're on the breadline. If anyone ever wants a drink or a kickabout (maybe Lloyd Park?) I'll be up for it. Wish I got to comment on here more but there's a firewall at work. The only thing old 606 was better for - worktime access.

I would have never left the north if not for the fact that all the jobs (especially in my sector) are here! I intend to return at some point..... Can't keep me away muahahaha

I'd have gone home years ago if it wasn't for work. One day.

That's the problem isn't it. I'd be up in a flash if it wasn't for work being tied to London. Better and much cheaper quality of life.

I live right by East Croydon Station.
Sounds like there's an alarming amount of us living in and around 'the Cronx'!

Anyone else ever go up to The Famous 3 Kings (Kensington), to watch Saturday 3 O'clock kick-offs?

ps. I'm a long standing lurker, going back to 2003 on old 606 (aka Bill S Preston Esq). This is my first contribution on not606 - howdy!

Yeah, it's the only one I've found that seems to show 3pm Saturday games, on a consistent basis.
It's quite a big pub, which has 6 or 7 screens, all showing different 3 O'clock kick-offs - there's a guy with a mic who shouts out the score updates of the other games.
I think it's usually 1 or 2 quid to get in. Sometimes you get English speaking coverage, sometimes not - like most pubs of this ilk.

They don't have a web-site, but this has details of the channels they show: http://www.sportspubs.co.uk/new_detail.php?pubscode=161

I'd love to move back in a flash, but alas there's sweet fa in jobs of anything I'd want to do back home - looking more likely I'll have to leave Leeds for Man chest hair or London for work though once I've finished uni.
