Reports that Blackburn are after Maynard in the January window: Blackburn Rovers are the latest club to line up a bid for Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard, according to The Daily Mail. The likes of West Ham United, Leicester City and Southampton have all been linked with moves for the 24-year-old this summer, but manager Keith Millen was able to warn off any interest as the transfer window slammed shut. However, with Rovers keen to bolster their attack, despite signing Yakubu on the final day of the window, manager Steve Kean will turn his attention to Maynard. Reports suggest that Rovers have held extensive talks already with City over a move for the player who's asking price in £6.5 million. Rovers will continue to monitor Maynard's progress as they plot a January swoop.
One thing is certain out of all of this...his price sure as hell wont be anywhere near £6.5Million in January. He will have just 6 months left on his contract after which he can go for free. That also assumes he wont sign a new contract - which he wont do, because why sign a contract potentially forcing you to play for a team with no ambition (as shown by there very chairman spendning no money at all), with no fans (some of the lowest gates for any team in the CCC so far this year) and no gurantee that they would sell him again. In 12 months time, Nicky and his very wealth angent can sit back and wait for the contract that offers the most money/first team football preferably in the EPL. You can gurantee he will not be a BC player in 12 months time
Who cares - stop posting about him as he isn't our player and quite frankly I hope he never is. I always found him to be vastly overrated yet the people on this board speak of him as if he is the messiah that will lead us to the land of milk and honey or something. Finally used my GCSE RE.

You lot make me laugh, always found him to be over rated, you lot were prepared to lick the **** of his boots when you were interested in him, and now your saying he was over rated! You never had, and never will have a chance of signing him! You lot are so bitter, i bet you will still be talking about him for the next 6 months, and you will no doubt be wanting Beckford out and Maynard in!
You just about got everything wrong in this post. We did nearly signing him and may well still do in January. Not every Leicester fan wanted Maynard. Some said they didn't rate him. We're hardly bitter, I think most of us are happy with the Beckford signing. I don't think there's much between him and Maynard, and come Jan we may have both!
Of course i got everything wrogn in the post, because your Festa fans, and what ever player you sign, you have been after since the year dot!!
This is barely readable, but I assume you're saying we settled for Beckford because he wasn't linked with us before we signed him. It's usually media speculation that links players to clubs, Sven obviously did well to keep this one quiet. I for one am delighted with the Beckford signing. a quality player with almost a 1 in 2 ratio from Premiership starts, whereas Maynard, who I admit I do rate, is untried at the top level. From a BC point of view, I think you've screwed up big time. You could have raked in a huge sum of money which would have brought in five or six quality players. Instead, you've only got Maynard for the rest of this season - a season in which you will achieve little. Then he'll probably go on a free and you won't have the players to maintain your Championship status. In short, you're going down, either this season or next. And I'd love to look at your books when you do...

If there is one thing you can say about SGE is that he never keps anything quiet, even down to cheating on his wife with certain blonde Swedish woman. im fed up of this whole saga the brizzles have nothing else to talk about so they continue to stalk us. the interesting part to me is if in january blackburn make a bid of say £1m and they are in the bottom 6 of the prem as they probably will be, will maynard opt for 3 months of prem football or will he be sitting by his phone waiting for a top 2 champ team to ring him? if we are that top 2 champ team and beckford has his 20 goals maybe we wont call you maynard---as they say on tv "will it be red or will it be black" your call nicky.
