I don't believe how often we have allowed that to happen. FFS Not good enough. We should be winning these basement games (unless of course we are just that - basement fodder)
I hope someone at the top is noticing these alarming trends, but I doubt it to be honest. When the key management personnel have basically said we can't, and won't, pay the price of admission to get in the contenders enclosure it makes me think that we will be allowed to continue our usual possible descent back to League One. Hoping that fate will lend a hand is a bridge too far and, mark my words, when the transfer window shuts in about 5 weeks we will still be sitting around asking the same questions that come up every single season and that is will our club finally wake up and smell the roses? So we know we are not prepared to break open the piggy bank but there must surely be a way of sorting out the long term issues without spending foolishly, but when you look at our dismal player acquisition record and the inability to determine our needs for the upcoming campaign it will make the transfer window somewhat predictable. Shock us please and don't spare the horses or we will soon be ploughing a furrow lower down the pecking order.
When you say open up the piggy bank, who's piggy bank do you mean? Lansdown's or the clubs accounts? It might come as a shock to you but we are still operating at a loss and it's been explained over and over that until the ground is complete we will ever be able to run into a good profit. Spend money or nurture the players one cost and the other takes time. One thing I will say is that we took 40k to Wembley wonder how many we get fit the first game in the 27k ground next season regardless of which league we was in. IMO we came up from division one a year too soon, but if we didn't come up we would of been on another manager by now. All I will say is becareful what you wish for because I can say this hand on heart if I was to read this constant sniping at me and I was putting money into the club I would think **** it, if you can do better then go ahead. So lucky enough I'm not in charge.
SL has waisted huge amounts over the years as i have said previously. I do not pretend to be anywhere near his wealth, but by god one thing i am sure about,if i had the money he spent into BCFC it would have given us a better return in years gone by. However when you are as rich as SL and you wish to spend it on a football club, you have every right to spend it as you see fit. We as the fans can argue to the cows come home, however the man at the top will spend his money as he see fit.
I am not, and never have been a Lansdown fan as most of you will know, and I firmly believe that we would be no worse off with another owner or any further down the football pyramid if he wasn't around. Yes he's rich and he writes off debts, but these are largely from stupid and naïve mistakes that he and the board have made. The rhetoric may change but the clueless attitude and lack of a real plan don't.
