Really liked Mbabu while he was here, maybe because he was a dread head too but always though he'd do well. Another young player bought in not given a chance and going on to shine elsewhere.

Helped Young Boys to their first league title in decades and attracting interest from EPL and Bundesliga clubs now 2 years after leaving initially on loan.

Would have been a better option at RB than Gamez and Manquillo over the last few years. Would love to see him back at the club.

Absolutely agree I thought he had potential and thought it very strange we let him go with so little fuss.

I too thought it a bit sad when he left - thought he was coming on well.

Did he not leave because he was out of contract and chose to play first team footy elsewhere rather than play for our reserves? Good to see him doing well.

Does Carr deserve more credit than we gave him? He clearly brought some guys in with big potential that have flopped, left and then excelled.

It was more the attitude and ability to adapt that Carr clinically ignored.

I do remember at one point they were meant to be looking at more Muslim players to eliminate a drinking culture. That looked pointlessly selective when you look at the likes of Ben Arfa/Cisse. It's like picking a team based only on Christians, ****ing stupid.

Could have been the heirarchy's influence like, and I will say he was a talented scout with the right connections, but it was too much signing for signing's sake. Marv, Thauvin, Anita, Saivet and the like would never have realistically worked in the PL and wasn't what was needed at the time.

What Carr typified was recruitment based purely on future market potential, in spite of the team's performance on too many occasions. We were a perennially lop-sided team throughout his time here. Not all his fault, but also why I won't look back on him with nostalgia.

Nobody talks about the eyes that picked up Guivar'ch, Hamman, Solano, Speed, Dabizas and Saha in roughly a season to be fair. He just became the face of finishing 5th.

    Good, but not great.

He was certainly nothing special. Some hits. Too many misses. Of course, if he had Man City's budget he'd be the best scout in the league. Horses for courses.

Mbabu was a strange one. Just as we started to give him a chance we lost him. It appears Rafa just didn’t fancy him as a player all told looking at his comments when he left -

“I’ve been proud to wear the black and white shirt and I gave everything I had each time I got the chance to play for this club.

“I would have loved to give you more but injuries and new opinions have decided differently.”

Again like Mitrovic, you just have to accept its horses for courses and some managers do not see the value in certain players where others do. Have to say I liked him, he was lightening quick. Good he is doing well. I’d have kept him over Gamez and Manquillo anyday, we could have saved a fortune in wages/fees. Probably could have had him on as little as 15k-20k with no fee. We had Mankini at 4.5m. Then combined wages of 60k. It’s fair to say that many would see that as a bizarre choice when we don’t have much money to chuck about.
