Gutted for Hurst as I had hoped it would turnaround as I hate seeing Managers lose their jobs.. especially after such a short tenure..

I would have a little compassion for him if he'd had a little humility, not come in like a nob from day 1 and THAT Exeter press conference.

I HATE Keane, but give me Keane any day over Hurst - who was an absolute waste of space in every avenue possible.

NEVER have I detested a manager - and I use that term loosely, as much as I have Hurst.

My sympathy for him only runs so far because he has made so many ridiculous decisions - loaning out good players, sticking with a failing system for far too long and ridiculous team selections.

I don't care where anyone's managed or played before, we are in the **** and if they can turn it around so be it.

Since there has been nothing official yet it would be absolutely HILARIOUS if it turned out to be wrong.

It also would be interesting if Hurst expanded on all the things he felt were wrong with the core of the club.

Paul Lambert did well at Colchester United and Norwich City, but guys, his record since has been awful. Underachieved at a big-spending Aston Villa side, left them 18th. Two consecutive 15th place finishes at Blackburn in the Championship, failed at Wolves despite a good transfer budget, and then relegated Stoke last season. The guy should be nowhere near our football club. I'll support the bloke, but honestly, we can do so much better.

    Just. Not. Lambert.

I struggled with McCarthy's playing style and attacking of the fans and then I struggled with the horrible shirt sponsor but this would be a whole new level of Town's values being flushed down the toilet and conflicted emotions.

McCarthy said nothing to the fans, until for about three years people did comment upon comment upon comment to people who said X Y Z on mass to him repeatedly and started doing petty little songs.

Perhaps if people hadn't said stuff to him for a long time he wouldn't have had a breakdown and said stuff back.

If you're not serving the fans and the club then what is your job? Just taking home your paycheque. He is a good manager tactically but his attitude was probably the difference between making it and not making it.

I'm afraid I don't think that's the case. We are still in serious danger of relegation and after the next three games we could be well stranded.

My worry now is we make short term decisions in an attempt to keep the club in the division and all the stuff we really need to do as a club goes out the window.

Sorry I forgot their was a 25th side in the division ;)

Very realistic chance of going down, lets hope the new manager does a good job.

Bryan Klug is going to be caretaker. Maybe the best thing we could do is give him the job of trying to keep us in the division. I can't think of anyone better suited.

Whoever it is I will back them until it's seen not to be working, and as far as Hurst goes it's lunacy to continue with something that's demonstrably failing.

Quote from Evans below implies his expectation that this squad, which suffered an exodus of decent players in the summer, is good enough for survival and he almost seems to rule out investment.

“This group of experienced players along with the additions we made to the squad this summer of younger developing talent, plus the ongoing progression of players from our academy means the new manager will have a solid group to work with and build for the future.”

No, Marcus, this squad requires investment and quality additions if we are to avoid fighting relegation for the foreseeable future.
