Incidentally, did anyone see this about QPR? They need to sort themselves out otherwise they will not be allowed into the Championship if they were relegated. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29129536 Now with Man U running up massive debts (which still sounds unbelievable with their global branding) would they be told they could n't go into the Championship as well? Think not.
To be honest the whole funding stuff needs sorting out. Apparently we've missed out on players we can't afford when they've gone to clubs that get lower crowds but happen to be bankrolled by someone with big pockets. All clubs need to be transparent about their balance sheets. Players should only be paid what clubs can actually afford based on actual income. And clubs which try to get an advantage through other funding or, let's face it, massive debt should be kicked out of the league. Scotland bit the bullet with Rangers and it's actually helped a few more clubs to thrive. Bring it on...
We all know there is a cap in L2 and L1 that were implemented a long time before the FFP came in. In L2 it was 55% of turnover and L1 was 60% I believe. Question is as the Conference falls outside of the FL what is the cap in the Conference? Considering some of the bank rolling going on in some of the Conference clubs it seems thare isn't one. Does anyone know if there is a cap?
dont think there is. you can basically buy yourself out this league. crawley and fleetwood are examples
Clarke is confident he can get the best out of Angelo Balanta. Free agent Balanta, who was released by QPR at the end of last season, agreed a one-year deal at the Memorial Stadium on Monday after failing to find a club in the Football League over the summer. The Colombian-born winger was tipped for big things when breaking in to the QPR first team as a 17-year-old – but has failed to push on since amid question marks surrounding his attitude towards the game. Balanta hasn't featured in a competitive match for the best part of 15 months. Clarke said: "I have worked with lads before who have let themselves go or lost their way a little bit. The kid has bags of ability and a good experience of playing at a higher level. It is now down to us to work him hard in order to get that ability out of him. The way I look at it, Angelo is playing in the Conference Premier now and he has to be hungry. He has a family to support and he will have to perform well or he won't be in the team. We're not sure where he is with his fitness, but he has had trials with a couple of clubs over the summer and shouldn't be too far behind." http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/ll-wor...says-Bristol/story-22908120-detail/story.html
Balanta was suppose to play in todays reserve game vs FGR but didnt play as picked up an injury in training yesterday. Rovers has just tweeted that his injury is a thigh strain and currently do not know how long he will be out injured for.
DC said tonight that he is half a stone overweight and injured himself crossing the ball in training! He also strongly hinted that we're paying him peanuts...so long as he doesn't eat them! I think he's taking a punt on him. He's costing next to nothing so if it doesn't work out it's no great (financial) loss.
Well Ellis appears to be turning a corner. If DC can do something similar with Angelo then we could have bob a good player and a saleable asset on our hands.
