    Reported in the Mail today we (along with Spuds and West Ham) are interested in signing Anelka from China
    Too old ? Good buy ?

    Sorry if done before but i wanted to get on the transfer rumour thread :)

    Too old and too much baggage.

    We need a team that can continue through the next few years with a few changes each year. If we buy too old this year will have to make wholesale changes next year and the year after. Continuity required.

    If we are going for the more "seasoned" professional, and forgetting what he probably wants in wages, I'd certainly prefer Anelka to Owen and Johnson.

    I think he's still decent enough but I don't think we want another agent (brothers in his case) fuelled ego strutting around the club.

    He'd never fall in love with the club and would just be here on his own, demanding terms.

    Although AJ isn't anywhere near as good, I do think he'd play for the badge (and I'm not even a fan of that signing in terms of progressing and improving from what we have).
