With King going to struggle get into the team now with all the competition do you think we should keep King or cash in on him. He will score goals for the team but wont do much else. With Neil Danns and Gelson Fernandes coming into the team and both are better footballers then King, King has looked a little out of his depth. Michael Johnson isnt match fit yet but a few more weeks and he will be ready so we are going to have even more competiton. As King came through our academy I would to see him develop with us but if we sell him it could fund 2 quality strikers coming in. King would still outscore all of our midfielders but with Johnson playing instead of King he would create more and score his fair share. In todays market we could get at least 5M for Kingy. If we get a big enough offer I would sell him but not to a championship side.

So would you rather keep him or cash in

No, I don't think we should cash in, not just yet anyway. If he gets his head down and tries to use his undoubted talent to it's full extent, we'll need him.

But, as I said in another thread:

If King continues to go missing, he simply has to be replaced by Johnson. He needs to take games by the scruff of the neck like he was doing in January last season, the Barnsley game is one that sticks out. With even less responsibility defensively, he can focus on what he does best, get between the 2 banks and make something happen. His forte is sneaking in to the box and finishing, but he needs to realise how frightened defenders are of him when he runs at them with pace. Having good body swerve and great finishing, they know it could be in the net in a second. He is also a very good passer and can pick killer balls.

I think the 4-3-3 suits him to some extent, with the front 3 occupying defenders he can get into the box unnoticed more easily. That said, he needs to develop his game and not be a one-trick pony. He needs to make himself available, demand the ball and make sure he's not marked by moving around. He musn't let games drift him by. If he continues to do so, Johnson is more than a capable replacement.

Somebody said on here last week - 'Andy, you're not a kid anymore son'. And they were right, it's now or never, he's got to prove his potential now.

This is a ridiculous poll a couple of bad games doesn't mean we should get rid of him - remember how immense he was last season?

I remember Man Utd fans clamouring to get rid of Nani when he was going through a bad patch - ask them if they will get rid of him now.

He is only 22, been here all his career and looks like he gives more then half a crap so will become better - I bet you that he will become our captain again at the end of the season.

King was stil poor last season when it came to influencing games. Apart from scoring goals he dont do much for the team. If we keep him and he has a bad season he stock will go down. Look at Waghorn, he was worth 3M at the start of last season and now probaly isnt worth 1M. We could of got around 3-4M for Matty Fryatt but he had a bad season and we only got 1.5M same goes for Jack Hobbs.

I cant see King staying in the team unless he improves. He needs to influence a game more, he needs to get the ball more, pass it around, run with it. Not just get in the box and try and get the scraps. With Danns, Johnson and Fernandes coming in Sven wont put up with any of the midfielders becoming passengers this season

Ok put it this way, we can keep King and sign Maynard or sell King and sign both Maynard and Yakubu. What would you prefer

Why do we need to sell to buy? - we have enough cash and a chairman that will spend it.

Reason we haven't got Maynard isn't because we can't afford him - we bid £7.5M for Long - it is because the prices quoted is much more then he is worth given that he is on the last year of his contract and we are the only bidders.

Personally I don't see the point - he isn't a proven 20 goal a season striker and also he hasn't signed a new contract so we can get him at Jan or for a free if we don't get anyone better - like Ebanks-Blake http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/78693-This-guy..

BTW Yakubu had the choice of coming here and he didn't 'cos he wanted Premiership wages - forget him and get someone who will give a crap.

Im using Yak as an example. And we cant keep expecting the owners to keep shelling out millions on players. Selling King for a striker would be a good move if you ask me. Do you really think King is better then Wellens, Danns, Fernandes, Johnson. Even Oakley has more of an influence on a game then King. On saturday in the first half King was the only player who didnt do anything. He is too unanimous if we cant get 4-5M for him I would take it and get in a striker

Also we can afford Maynard we just dont want to pay the massive price tag. But we may be forced to now as all or other targets have gone elsewhere. Also Bert thinks we are going to make another bid for Maynard

Have to agree with BigFox, we should not and do not need to sell players to buy players. King was one of our best players last season without a doubt, we shouldn't be selling him, we should be merely adding quality to the quality we've already got.

I don't know why we've considered the asking price for Maynard as too much but it's not because we don't have the funds, so making selling King part of the equation is a moot point.

We had the same problem with Howson before last season, undoubtedly showed talent but far too often went missing. He just suddenly matured last season, began winning games with his performances and leading by example (hence why he is now captain. Part of that was down to Larry moving him from CM to AM, possibly King needs something similar?

Defo don't sell. He's still young and shows a lot of potential. Yes he goes missing and has bad patches at times, but I'm sure he'll improve and become a real asset - especially now that he's mixing with the likes of Fernandes and Danns on the training ground.

Hard to say, with the ammountof players we have got, we will not get the best deal for him atm.
