Don’t know much about him in fact I’ve never heard his name mentioned up until now but where does he go with this team. Does he play embleton, Neil, diamond, curry, Sanderson and inject some pace into the side or is he a Parkinson clone and stick with the old guard. If I had the chance of just one game in charge I would just go for it with the young uns, nowt to lose really has he as he won’t be remembered for 1 match. I reckon I know the answer to this but will ask the question anyway, what would all you do. ?
I kind of agree, if he has the gonads, he should go all out attack and put them on the back foot from minute one. Be a refreshing change from the turgid football dished up over the last few years
Sanderson RWB, O’Nien alongside leadbitter in midfield, Diamond on right, Embleton left. Curry and Neil on bench. More evolution than revolution.
It would be nice to see the young lads come in together, it worked all those years ago with Elliott, Rowell and Arnott. Great start to those 3 coming in
I think it will depend whats going on behind the scenes. If they are actually just starting the recruitment process today he will probably play safe. If the manager is already agreed they might have specific requests like, 'can you start Embleton and a few others as I want to see what they are like in an actual league 1 game so I have an idea ready for my first game'
That's my thinking too, Parky's teams just needed a dash more youth and a bit of switching around not an entirely different 11. Unfortunately for him he was too blind or stubborn to see it.
Think we will see pretty much the same starting XI, but the bench will have a youthful look to it. Subs will be used more too.
Thanks Comfy - you've just made my day! Brought back the memories of that period when that trio were introduced. That couple of weeks, 4 successive home games. 1-0 v Bristol City to end a run of 9 defeats without scoring, then a 0-0 away to Arsenal - one more scoreless would have been a record. Then Boro 4-0 ( even Boro said it could have been 8) then 6-0 West Ham and 6-1 West Brom. Remember Sammy (RIP) , huge grin, declaring he ''would need to start bringing a calculator to the games'' !
Hopefully something like this ............................. Burge.............................. Diamond .... Wright.... Sanderson.. Hume Mcgeady...Scowen... Leadbitter...embelton ...............maguire............... Wyke..............
You’re right - new stadiums with bars are great , but that period 2:30 til 3:00 , as the crowd built , the singing began , the familiar faces appeared alongside you and the atmosphere built to that roar when the ref was about to blow, is a sad loss
it would be great to see us attacking and winning with 3 points in the bag, im sure all of Wearside would be rejoicing over that
Im Getting a pass for this one and hoping we attack the from the off and for 90 minutes only way we’ll do that is if embleton, diamond and curry and Neil are involved. Also hoping taylor isn’t a clone of parky, he’s a chance to stake a claim to remaining a coach here if the new manager sees how he handles it.
Me too - as a matter of fact, in September, I ran over 200 miles with no days off!! And I'm 45. But I'm not a professional footballer! Game has moved on - Eric Gates used to play first team Saturday and Tuesday then a reserve game on the thursday then back to first team on the Saturday! If they get subbed at HT then maybe a place on the bench for both but, if they finish the game, they shouldn't be playing tomorrow! I agree with you by the way, play the youngsters. Get the team shaken up and make those who have become "comfortable" squirm a bit. Competition for places is as good a motivator as anything
