Didn't know you were talking cricket mate. He got in quite young and then got overlooked for a while. Been a permanent fixture for some time now. At his best he was amazing

He came in around 2003 but then lost his place. If memory serves me correctly Harmison and Anderson were both vying for the place as the pace bowler in the side and for a while Harmison was the better choice (Anderson used to leak a lot of runs and couldn't control his swing like he does now, there were times he was a bit of a liability). He wasn't part of the set up in 2005 for the ashes (Harmison, Hoggard, Flintoff, Jones were the best seem bowling unit we've had in my lifetime in my opinion as they offered great variety) but came back in shortly after.

The guy has been our only outstanding bowler for a couple of years now (since Swann retired)

Only when there are clouds about. He was a decent bowler but not outstanding.

He's certainly a lot better than the Brazilian footballer SAF signed.

    A lot slimmer too.

Best swing bowler in world cricket for the last half dozen years at least, but the lacks the pace needed to be a regular wicket taker in the Steyn mould abroad when it's not swinging.

Personally think that stats don't always tell the full story OK Jimmy has overtaken Beefy as leading wicket taker but how many runs has he scored? Two different aspects of a cricket team allrounder/bowler - I know who I would rather have in my team!

    Love the Avatar!

He's not an all rounder so it's not a fair comparison. Murali couldn't bat but 800 wickets says everything.

Anderson was as good a bowler as Beefy - not better, but as good. Both superb at the art of swing. Anderson's all round bowling talents are marginally better, but the force of Beefy's personality and presence gave him an edge - he psyched batsmen out. Often.
