Hey guys, just a bit of an update. I'm currently waiting for a text from our reserve team to see if I'm needed to play tomorrow. If not, then I'll be hopefully coming down to see my first Charlton game! My girlfriend bought me tickets (well a handmade voucher!) for my birthday which was on Wednesday. Couple of questions: a) Any ideas of what is the best stand to go in? (best for view/atmosphere) b) Is there a popular boozer before the game? If I do make it, I'll be the one with the Jason Eull 17 away shirt on! Cheers Ben
Best stand for view would be the West Upper IMO. Thats where I sit... but some would say the atmosphere was lacking to say the least. I think it is what you make it, but compared to the North Upper (better price point, and a lot more singing) it's a ghost town. As for pubs, I don't really drink by the stadium so am not sure. I personally drink in a boozer about 15mins away called the Royal Standard. If you see the massive pub the Antigallican- thats the away pub. Whilst you can drink in there (I think), it's probs best to avoid. If you do make it down, then enjoy yourself. Nothing quite beats the build up to the 3 o'clock KO in and around the Valley. And happy birthday for Wednesday!
The NW quadrant is near enough the Upper North for you to sing and shout without feeling a bit odd. Not quite so intense though. And we share the same birthday!
North upper Ben. It has atmosphere and is reasonably priced. Don't make the mistake of going in the north lower, its matchday price is dearer and its a crap view. East stand has great view, but no atmosphere, the same can be said for both the west lower and upper. I would try North upper if I were you, after that try NW Quadrant. Hope you enjoy your visit.
Ben, North upper H, J or I ( if it's H try to get tickets close to J) I block are the 'mini me's' for J block and join in with Js singing but H are louder anyway. G has decided to start singing 'we are G block Covered End' this season but seems to have an overly fair share of people willing to moan! Pub - you could try the Royal Oak, it's close to North Block (about 3 minute walk) but is quite full pre match. If it's the Royal, then go to Valley get your tickets then ask anybody around as most people know where it is. COYR
