Well,if you find them interesting, look at this: Points taken from the top six clubs in the Premiership this season by the following teams: Liverpool 8 Newcastle 7 QPR 7 WBA 7 Wigan 7 Swansea 6 Fulham 6 Soton 6 Reading 4 Stoke 4 W Ham 4 Sunderland 4 Villa 2 ............................And Norwich 12!
So where have struggled to get points most? The other end of the table, which is really quite bizarre. I mentioned this a while back at it is true at home games at any rate - we raise our game against the top 6, as we did (mostly) last season.
I would attribute this to the 'We're playing Norwich Saturday? Take the week off training and enjoy your Friday night' syndrome.
TBH, it would have been better had we taken points off those below us as much as it is great when we beat the likes of Manure.
Season one - Do good against the smaller teams, crap against the good teams Season two - Do crap against the smaller teams, good against the big teams Season three - BEAT EVERYONE
I can only imagine what sort of Friday night your lot must have had the last few times we met in the Chumpionship
I think it is the teams in the middle where we have struggled as I don't think we have lost to any the lower sides, we have however drawn a lot. QPR twice, Reading and Villa once and Southampton twice for starters oh and Sunderland once. Whereas Liverpool two defeats, Fulham hammered once, WBA lost, West ham loss and Newcastle a loss.
That's where they ****ed up this season, still in the belief they are a good team and far too casual toward other teams
this excludes the top 6 taking points of each other, but non the less, a good stat another good one is although there has been some moaning about the amount of draws (13, level with Stoke as the most in the league), it means with only lost TEN games out of 30 so far. Look at some of the teams directly around us, like west ham, newcastle, fulham, they have lost more like 13-15 games (but won more games than us). i think this is good - not being beaten too much.
Sadly when you look at the Goal Difference we do tend to get hammered more than others when we do get beat
Yeah, when we get beat we get beat big time. We've been hugely unlucky I think facing teams at the top of their games and missing the vital component of Bassong and/or Turner. I mean, facing Liverpool twice at the top of their game. How unlucky can you get! All lessons learnt though hopefully.
The other relevant figures: We have taken 13 points from nine games against the bottom six teams and against the teams from seventh to fourteenth just nine points from eleven games. In that section we include tLiverpool he only team other than Chelsea to have done the double over us so far.WBA and Man City remain the only two capable of adding to their number.

That is true Dave.. Nothing gets past you! It does give an interesting comparison in peaks and dips in Form with all 20 clubs throughout the season though...
I agree it is a very insightful piece of machinery, I'm fairly confident that we can stay ahead of the chasing pack
Norwich hold the record for draws in a season in the top flight. 23 if I remember correctly. And it was only 2 points for a win so draws were perfectly acceptable. That was during the John Bond days and 42 games a season. In fact 42 points would have probably got you to the top half of the table whereas 38 points is no guarantee of safety these days.
