I've been keeping an eye on the daily utterances of Alain De Pardieu, as the transfer window progresses. From what I've read, especially today, I think that there will be very little inward activity, other than the signing of a striker... if we can persuade a top class one to come to us.

Other than that, I see no one else coming in, except a replacement for Enrique.

    I hope I'm wrong, but I bet I'm not.

    I don't find it inconvenient.

If Enrique leaves, we get a new LB and the defence will possibly be weaker than last season dependent on who we sign.
We have a stronger midfield than last season.
Get a new striker and the front line will be better than we finished last season with.

    Overall we've improved.

    This.

That would be 5-6 players that will need to be incorporated into the team. Anymore than that and it will be really hard to for them to gel, especially given the playing style we're meant to be introducing.

I think we will get a striker eventually got no idea what sort of quality theyll be, i reckon we will sell enrique in a few weeks when most decent lbs have already moved or settled down for pre season!

Okay, but it leaves us short on numbers if we have anything like a bad run of injuries, next season. We could end up either having to throw too many of the youngsters into the mix, which could be a risky proposition, OR panic buy in January, when players prices are always hiked up dramatically. For example, £12m for Zog, compared to what he is likely to be sold for now.

Yes but as was said in an earlier post today we have cover of 2 or 3 players in each position (except prob lb and maybe rw) Your argument would suggest we should go the Man City route and have a squad of 40 1st teamers where 70% of them rarely ever play. This leads onto a more unsettled and disgruntled squad with players struggling to intergrate into the team when called upon. Not too mention a ridiculous wage bill

Atleast calling up a youngster when needed they bust a gut to prove themselves.

You forget how many talented youngsters we have in our squad, Fergie being the prime example, looks a little lightweight but he can more than hold his own against the likes of Stoke (Physical) and Chelsea (Need I say more). However I don't think we'll be stupid enough to rely on too many youngsters, when we have a fair few senior players as well like Lover, Raylor, Barton etc, needless to say they did a decent job when called upon last season <ok>

  14. I knew that we would have next to know money to spend and i can't believe some of you are surprised.

Pardew has been told the same as Hughton that he'd have a little amount to spend, and if he wanted anymore he'd have to sell players... thus Nolan was sold and Cabaye was bough for around the same amount.

Ashley will probably pay for one player and keep the rest of the cash.

What do you mean .. keep the rest of the cash? Like in his own piggy bank or something? take it down the casino and fritter it away on Blackjack and drinks for his mates?

I predict Tiote sold, Enrique sold, dj Campbell brought in and Pards will say he is "proven in the prem".

I used to think Pards was OK but he is just M.A's bitch now. M.A will be happy with 12th -15th and some good individual performances so he can sell them on.
