We got beaten by wigan today, they play a 3-4-3. Is it worth trying this out, with Vermalen, Koscielny and (shudder) Djourou as CB's, and Gibbs and Sagna as the wingbacks, Arteta and Song anchoring the Midfield? Would you stick with 4-3-3, or try this?
3-4-3 would leave us even more exposed on the wings than we were today, and Sagna isn't lightening quick so he'll struggle, also can you imagine ball constantly being crossed into the box and how scrappy that would be, what a horrific site. Also, we would be lacking so much in the midfield, there would be no place for Rosicky who has been the one creative beacon that we have consistently relied upon.
How do teams make it work then? Napoli have made a decent job of it, Barcelona have used it numerous times this season, and Wigan's turnaround in form has been since they adopted this formation. Also, 10 man Manchester City nearly pulled off an improbable comeback against United when they used it. It's a good formation, i think it would work, it would make us less predictable.
No Gibbs will be back Sagna had a poor game but he is one of if not the best RB in the league Wed be killed with pace and our midfield would suffer
If Santos was asked to do whatever he fancied - he was quite good. If he was also meant to defend - he forgot.
notice how the goal we scored came from a header. their goalie's two best saves came from headers. it is when we mix it up and cross it in that the other teams struggle to cope with us. they are fine to defend with 11 men behind the ball.
Put Gervinho, Ryo, Oxo, Walcott, and any other fast player we've got on, and just hoof it for them to outpace everyone to
