Just like any group of people, a portion of them are bound to be idiots and assholes. Also, I think the media portrays us as the greatest thing ever and sways people to look down on other countries. People where outraged when France refused to go to Iraq, even though we had no right to be there in the first place.
Because they haven't gotten over losing the Civil War. Either this year, or last year, a high school in Georgia had its FIRST EVER non segregated senior prom. There's some really backwards places here in the United States.
Bit late for that now? It's known as WWI, and should been kept as such. Although if we were to change it, would WWII become WWI?
How are we named after a Welshman? America is named after an Italian explorer. Amerigo Vespucci. Americus, I believe was the Latin derivative of his, and America was the feminine form of Americus.
America is a corporation and really only cares about what profits America. Terrorist groups are only terrorist if they don't profit America. Sad but true. Here's a question though, consider America is the most powerful country in terms of militaristic reach, should America get involved in human rights issues across the globe, or should we just keep to ourselves?
Well I'm not bored! Maybe my next thread should be about why English people have bad teeth? Edit: Someone already did!
I think to get involved first you have to actually be interested in those rights I'd imagine. the US have never gone in for the benefit of others, always for the benefit of its own interests. any purely humanitarian enterprise has always been weakly backed and poorly handled, like Somalia for example and the military still managed to kill ****loads of civvies in that fiasco as well as sit back and allow butchery to happen right under their noses
I think the problem is they go in with intentions for profit, but then include they oh we're also freeing a oppressed people. They use it more as a front to keep the public off their back, while the pump the oil out of the country. The problem with civilian casualties, has to do more with terrorist groups or whomever using civilians as a hopeful plea for safety. They know they won't beat an American trained soldiers in open combat so they use innocent people to hide. Now I knows there's ****ed up American soldiers, like the one who just admitted to slaughtering a whole village on his own in Afghanistan, but how do you stop a militant group of people oppressing innocents if they're operating in civilian populated areas?
