    Steven Caulker
    Michael Dawson
    Sebastien Bassong
    Curtis Davies
    James Tomkins,
    Geoff Cameron
    Michael Mancienne

Bassong is better than Oshea so id have him. Caulker would cost more but has the potential to be one of the best around

    What about Medel?

Immense at CB for Chile, and has a relegation release clause.

Sure Cardiff used him more as a CDM

Not sure if im keen tbh, a lot of goals in the prem are headed goals and standing at 5ft 7in hes not exactly massive, good worker though

Caulker/Dawson/Richards/Mancienne would be good as they are english, but wouldnt be surprised to see us get a foreigner in

Maybe if Vergini signs put him in the middle and Jones on the right?

Would love to see us sign Caulker but Spurs mates tell me they may go back for him.

We should go for Jonny Evans a long shot but
He might not be in Man U's plans or Ron Vlaar

I really do like Vlaar mind, that's not impossible.

Personally, I don't rate Evans at all, he looked a class act at a time when we were a much poorer side & club, but he's average as ****. Better than JOS like.

Is it just me or did Medel play as a sweeper for Chile? I could barely believe my eyes seeing someone that far back, on his own. It ****ing worked.

I like Shawcross, I know he's not the ball playing CB we're searching for but he's safe as houses and has all the Cattsesque grit, commitment and determination to become a fan favourite here. We need two CBs anyway.

That's not a bad shout mate. I'd be more than happy if we got Shawcross. Still only 26yo.

As a defender, very few better than Scawcross.

I feel as if we should have a go for Clyne off Southampton while spirits are down over there, they have Chambers anyway and he might fancy a move.

I think the lads outstanding. He's also young & English.

Sunderland will step up their interest in £12m Chelsea starlet Kurt Zouma after missing out on Swansea‘s Ashley Williams.

The Black Cats are desperate to bring in at least one centre-back over the summer and had seen an initial £4m offer for Williams rejected last month.

Their hopes of signing Williams were killed off on Friday when the Swans skipper signed a new four-year deal at the Liberty Stadium.

That means Sunderland will redouble their efforts to land France under-21 international Zouma, who cost Chelsea £12m when he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Saint-Etienne in January with Jose Mourinho swooping to sign a player talked up as a future France captain by national boss Didier Deschamps.

The 19-year-old was immediately loaned back to Saint-Etienne for the remainder of last season, but Sunderland are hoping to agree a season-long deal to bring Zouma to Wearside.

Sunderland’s new sporting director Lee Congerton is a former chief scout at Chelsea and could use his contacts at Stamford Bridge to advance a deal.

Sunderland have already brought in West Brom right-back Billy Jones on a Bosman free transfer this summer.

However, they are still short of strength in depth in central defence and Carlos Cuellar was released over the summer and Argentinian Santiago Vergini returned to Estudiantes at the end of his six-month loan spell.

With Gus Poyet having effectively written-off two of the centre-backs he inherited, Valentin Roberge and Modibo Diakite, that leaves him with no senior cover for the veteran ex-Manchester United duo John O’Shea and Wes Brown.
