I have actually forgotten his first name (not literally).

I just saw Jason Euell on Facebook tagged in a pic from the POTY Ceremony and Alonso (OK so I have forgotten his first name) appears to be there.

It's all just the strangest thing.

Can anyone provide the definitive answer as to what's gone on?

Based on what I was told several months ago by my semi-reliable source (sorry as always, mate) the pre-season injury he sustained at Carshalton should have finished his career - apparently it was a quite appalling challenge on his standing leg. However, I think that the backroom medical/physio staff here are of a different order to anything we've seen before and got him back to a point where he was able to turn out again for a couple of games. The problem however persists and it's likely he'll retire in the close season if things don't improve.

Don't know anything about Mikel but just been reading Yado's tweets, he says he will be at Charlton next season which I think is good news :)

Well that would be tragic; we really do have rotten luck with this sort of thing eh? (I know that must sound hearltess given his career may be over)

I don't care much for Yado Mambo to be honest .

I've been thoroughly dissappointed with the whole Alonso thing really, I was quite looking forward to seeing him in a red shirt (the JPT game he played in for us was actually the only game I've missed at The Valley for god knows how long, so in my mind he still doesn't exist ;) ).

As for Mambo, found this fairly interesting piece:

Why does everyone have to go on about Alonso??
Hardly played a game, made no contribution to the promotion, was ****e when he did play, yet everybody keeps on about him.
He'll be gone, ready to be replaced by someone better - end of. Goodbye.

I agree with Stu, never seen him play but I don't have high hopes even if he was to sign a new contract (which I hope isn't the case)

I really liked what I saw of Evina and Hughes. The home win against Preston in which Hughes played was the best football I saw all season, one half of it was perfect.

I guess he had to fulfill commitments to the ladies who sponsored him?

I saw him and took a picture of him as proof but haven't uploaded it yet.

I feel sorry for him, I thought if he had been fit and done what he could do he would have been a key player, I imagined him being very very simular to his brother, someone who picks out a pass from quite a distance, a bit like Stephens does. I think he would be perfect in a 5 man midfield so maybe he wouldn't have fitted our tactics.

He was in my view a lot like Stephens and Hollands put together, could pick a pass like Stephens does, but I imagined he would slow down and control play like Hollands can. I feel sorry that we didn't see what he could have done, won't be suprised if he's gone next year, will be sorry but understand, could have seen a class player but instead we saw a Corey Gibbs... well not quite, Alonso did play a game and show his face somewhere.

Good luck to him for whatever he does, sorry it didn't work out

I felt sorry for him too, when doing the show he kept looking over and making eye contact with me and gave me the look of 'what am i doing here'. Wanted to go and out an arm round him.

Think the problem has been a lack of information regarding Alonso,if like the earlier poster mentioned career threatening injury, then all that you can say is you wish him well for the future.he did not choose to get injured, and seems to have honoured his commitments.

<laugh> I understand the concept, I was meaning that he basically had no choice but to be there.

He put a nice message up on Twitter over the w/e regarding the event. He now seems to be going down in Charlton folk-law along with Omar Pouso etc.
