Well that's answered all my questions about transfer kitty and MM contract negotions
He has been told to cut his budget by 3 million
No transfers then, no big push next season, no ambition
MM will be off. Another mediocre season to look forward to
    Thoroughly thoroughly pissed off

It isn't the most positive news story but not entirely surprising..

We ran up losses of £9.6 million last year (I think?) and under FFP this can only be as much as £8 million and then £6 million for next year so we have tightened our belt as it were..

I would love to think that getting our house in order allows us to spend some money in the summer (with a lot of other clubs unable to dip in the market and keeping prices sensible etc.)

But this does feel very much like an opportunity wasted this season, I just hope and pray that we can turn whatever this season turns out to be into the catalyst for us (eventually) moving forward

"Meanwhile, McCarthy laughed off claims in one of this morning’s national newspapers that he had been told his budget must be cut by £3 million." - TWTD

So we're back to where we were, guessing at the summer transfer kitty.

My thoughts are we wont ever see a blank cheque from ME again but Mick will have a little more financial freedom in the summer to go after some well targeted purchases.

Look on the bright side, if Mick has no money to spend that at least that means we wont be bringing in any more defensive midfielders!!

I think it's quite clear our summer transfer budget will be exactly the same as last season.

However, Mick is a manager I feel that could attract the better free transfer players out there. I cannot imagine Berra would have joined us under Jewell for instance.....

It's such a shame Magilton/Keane and Jewell completely wrecked this club financially. I suppose likewise with us gambling on two new stands, George and Sereni back in 2001. Gambles don't always pay off, as we're still finding out.....

Not sure I believe this £3 million cut story either to be perfectly honest with you.

    Bosmans it is then.
Going to be the norm for a lot of clubs now I feel. Instead of battling over transfer fees we'll all be trying to offer the best wage deal now.

Don't kid yourself Spanish, there will be plenty of defensive (crap) players available for free, it's the ones with creativity that will still command a fee.
