Took inspiration from the Ibrahimovic vs Messi thread.

Who would you play in an all time world XI?

Any player from any league at any time.

    Banks
    Cafu Moore Beckenbauer Carlos
    Makalele

Hard to pick an all time XI. Cruyff must be in there some where for me aswell & I won´t dis-agree with your front 3 to much although I´d have Lineker in the back of my mind. What about the late Doc Socrates & Pushka ? Could I have Rush, Bergkamp on the bench along side Del pierro & Both the Maldinis. Sorry for the spellings.

Tough one. Classic pub discussion this. Probably haven't lived long enough to give an accurate opinion and a lot of this will be based on hearsay but here goes:

    Yashin

    Beckenbauer - Moore - Baresi

    Di Stefano

    Messi - Pele - Maradona - Cruyff

    Puskas

Subs: Banks; Maldini; Xavi; Zidane; Giggs; Best; Muller

    Manager: Sir Alex Ferguson

Xavi has to be worth a shout. Top player

Apart from Bobby Moore no other English players worth a shout with their form on the europeon or world stage

Paul Gascoigne is a if only one though

the only reason xavi wouldnt be in it is as we are still watching him play. The same reason i think some of us dont call last seasons barcelona team the best team of all time, as people are afraid to label something currently happening to be better than something that has been and gone. I am sure in 20 years time people will look back at it as the best team of all time.

Also, i coould watch Xavi more times than any other player. Never been a more capable passer of the ball.

^ big shout here, but i think that team could lose against the current barca side- no one to break up play so would always be against it. Then again, frighteningly good.

Interesting to see no one mention Gerrard at all in the modern day squads- carried liverpool on his own at times- particularly that final (v west ham?)

Gerrard is a very good player but tries to play too many Hollywood passes when in an England shirt. Most of them don't come off. The outcome is that we lose posession and don't see the ball again for another 10 mins which at International level is ciminal.

In his prime, he could tackle, pass, shoot, cross, drive, lead.

Outstanding. unfortunately we will remember him now his legs have started to go, not when he was 26.

We never said the team had to work well together, Just the best players in a team

Yes the teams we all list we never have worked as proven in the past by the galacticos at Real Madrid

Figo, Ronaldo, Zidane, Raul, Carlos, Beckham etc. As we have said before you need to very good players in your team who hold the team together. Man U have always had them over the years with people like Nicky Butt, Darren Fletcher, Phil Neville etc. They could easily go out and buy better players then them but its players like them what make the team work

So many great players already been mentioned so tried to pick a first XI from players not mentioned so far:

    Sepp Maier (Germany 1974)

Junior (Brazil 1982) Daniel Passarella (Argie 1978) Claudio Gentile (Italy 1982) Ray Wilson (Eng 1966)

Jairzinho (Brazil 1970) Ruud Gullit (Holl 1988) Gerson (Brazil 1970) Rivelinho (Brazil 1970)

Eusebio (Portugal 1966) Marco Van Basten (Holl 1988)

Bench - Van Der Sarr, Gaetano Scirea (Italy 1982), Martin Peters (Eng 66), Paulo Rossi (Italy 82) & Jimmy Johnstone (Lisbon Lion)

All world class players and not a bad team from everyone elses cast offs!
