    myself and a couple of friends biked through northern Germany in the 1980s, through Hamburg, Bremen, then Lubeck to Keil, then across to Gedser in Denmark. You could see the towers on the East German border. Weird sight.
    On the way back went to a seaside place called Travamunde, nice place.

    I've also been once to Travamunde. It certainly was a weird experience, I used to drive to Rostock, where the East German fishing fleet was based for meeting there.
    Crossing the border you hardly saw any cars, driving on deserted roads was really odd.
