Thoughts on this? I really hope we do not get him. I can't understand where all these rumours are coming from, that we are going for strikers. I don't even think we need Lukaku!

Also how we were prepared to fork out 45 odd million for Pastore, a player without solid CL experience and unproven at international level and yet we are reluctant to pay a good sum of money for who I believe is the best CM in the league OR even Neymar.

Very worried we are not signing anybody howevere, Pato is NOT the way to go.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wtGRSWEO7M Check this video. He seems like the kind of DM we have needed since Makelele left, good passer and has a nice tackle. Could be a good signing and hopefully this buy out clause doesn't get activated as soon as he gets good, that would be heartbreak!

Aye, but last time we bought an AC Milan striker for 30M, look what happened.

If the price was right, I'd quite like Adam Johnson here. Last season when he got injured, Man City looked a different team! Hopefully now with Aguero there and Mancini keen to sign another winger we can get him at a good price. Modric and Johnson, I'll be a very happy lad.

Pato is incredibly talented though and too young to be another Shevchenko.

With Zhirkov likely to be off and it looks like Alex may be as well if rumours are to be believed that would free up some space in the squad

Yup...Yuri is on his way it would seem, but the new Barca kid may take his space in the squad.

I'm confused with this rule - if he is under 21 does he count as a foreigner in the squad?

I found this on BBc website from last year re rules:-

But what will they actually mean in practice? BBC Sport explains the key points of the new system:

    - Clubs register a squad of up to 25 players, which must include at least eight 'home-grown' players, at the end of each transfer window.

    - Home-grown players do not have to be English; home-grown players are defined as those who "irrespective of nationality or age, have been affiliated to the FA or Welsh FA for a period of three seasons or 36 months prior to 21st birthday"

    - Clubs can supplement squad with unlimited number of players under the age of 21.

from what I can see we have 16 foreigners at present so have space for one currently with space for another if Zhirkov goes
