If Chamberlain wants to go which it looks like he does then let him go! But, only if we get the right price for him and Mr Cortese thinks that its the best deal for the progression of our club. Newspapers are always going to make up rubbish about our youth players because we've sold them in the past but its different now we don't need to sell and the media can't seem to deal with that.
He's probably thinking "**** me, I'm going to have to work hard to get in here let alone Arsenal!" Good grounding for the lad whatever happens.
Noticed that the telegraph have stated that Arsenal are nearing completion of AOC. For me I trust the Telegraph and Times more than any other paper and I know that any rumour that goes into the paper is very much true. I would be disappointed as I feel its the wrong move for him but I don't mind taking some wonga off Arsenal!! Having said that its still a waiting game for it to be confirmed!!
I think we should just wait and see if this happens, probably just more bullsh*t from the papers trying to make the deal happen.
Yes, the rumour is very much given validity by the fact that it is written by Jeremy Wilson. A Saints supporting member of the Press. Now I believe it. Funny thing is, I really don't care..!
We don't really need installments do we? So if Arsenal aren't willing to pay the full amount (believed to be £12million) up front then why don't they pay up or shut up?
No, but I don't think Arsenal can actually afford to pay £12M for him outright..! Hence a 40% sell on fee. I've no doubt Cortese would be driving a hard bargain. Of course, he could always just say, no thanks. And I wouldn't bet against that either. I think it's a misnomer that Arsenal are loaded with cash. They might be rich-ish, but that Emirates Stadium cost them a bundle.
Yeah, we are pretty well off now, meaning we can add quality (like Jack Cork for under a mill) to the squad, but imagine if we were 'well off' plus another 12 mill. Think of the players Mr Adkins could THEN bring into the squad.. Thats three or four 3 mill signings right there. Id put the value of those 3 or 4 signings higher than the value of just keeping chamberlain, who is not even a clear cut first 11 player atm...
The problem i think is the add ons. The reason i think this is because Markus did not believe in debt. When he took over and cleared all the debt and stated that he was a believer in if you can't afford it you can't have it simple as.Now if Arsenal pay x amount up front and the rest in add ons that = debt so i think NC wants the fee up front.
I would never believe anyone could get a 40% sell on fee, but didn't Portsmouth have a 50% sell on on a player they took back this summer. Sorry bit hazy on details.
All I know is that I'm happy we have Cortese doing the deal rather than the one we do not mention (his predecessor). NC will not take any sh*t and if it is not right for the club then no deal. If he wants to go then let him go if they offer the right price. Yes we will miss him but we will survive and no one is bigger than the club.
telegraph article says deal is £7m up front, £5m in appearances, with NC demanding a 40% sell on clause!!!!! Torygraph says deal will be sealed this week - but other papers have said a deal had been struck in june with a fixed date of 1st July, so probably utter rowlocks! If Alex goes, it will be because the "Don" and NA want it, and it will be for a fee which most fans will beleieve to be good business. But, I will only believe it when I see it on the OS.
couldnt agree more, whatever happens NC will get the very best possible outcome for the club also ebar in mind that on twitter yesterday a inside reporter for a top betting firm said that he himself is going to put a flutter on saints gaining automatic promotion - this is due to their great display saturday PLUS inside info he claims to have that we are about to 'more than dip our toes into the market' whether this is seperate to the AOC deal is irrelevant, im intrigued as i feel this will be a CB and ST for sure soon.
We can't afford to get too carried away as there would obviously be 3 salaries to be paid to those 3 million pound players.
