Who's mam was a dinner lady ? Well time to meet Alex Bruce http://www.thisishullandeastriding....resses-Bruce/story-16529157-detail/story.html http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Bruce_(footballer_born_1984)
I'd hope that, just because we have one father-and-son (Assem and Ehab), it doesn't follow that we have to have another.....
Another sick note I'm afraid: From wiki Bruce also has an unusual ailment where he vomits after leaving the dressing room before the second halves of football matches.[40][41]
He's free, he's played 250 games in the Championship - I don't see the problem. He's cover until Hobbs is back.
Brucio senior's playing it down a bit I think, regarding Alex. He might just be doing him a favour while he's not got a club, helping him stay fit. He doesn't sound desperately keen to say he wants to sign him up. If he does, he could be adequate cover - though I expect he will be far from the standard of the players we already have.
"250 matches in the Championship" .... That wiki is wrong then (unsurprisingly, given it is a wiki). Not even close according to that. I count 185 in all leagues.
There is a reason why he only averages 15 games a season and it isn't because of injury... If he couldn't make the Leeds starting line up with our poor defensive displays....
That's about 100 games out. Personally, I pray we don't sign him, he's been ****e when I've seen him, he couldn't get into the Leeds side for most of last season(despite them having the second worse defence in the league) and most importantly, putting your son in the team is a really crap idea(I thought the same about Jack Barmby and at least he's a great footballer).
We seem to be turning into a lot of knee jerkers on this board catastrophising everything. The Allams are clueless they know nothing about football......... proved wrong. The dinner lady dont want him.......... oh actually got a great record managing in the prem for ten years. Alex Bruce he's crap we dont want him.....actually 28 years old played awhile in the championship and not for his dad. We've been crying out for someone of that age and experience in the squad. We could start supporting for a change instead of whinging all the time or do we just like doing that more than success in Hull.
It's taken from the comment from Steve Bruce - I did check on soccerbase afterwards and thought he was been a touch optimistic with 250, but ALL games played are over 200.
He's played 202 games in all competitions Hull City manager Steve Bruce impressed by Nick Proschwitz Friday, July 13, 2012Hull Daily MailFollow HULL City boss Steve Bruce says his £2m target Nick Proschwitz is "tailor-made" for the demands of English football. Bruce met with Proschwitz yesterday at the Tigers' training camp in Portugal to negotiate a move to the KC Stadium and the City boss remains hopeful of concluding a deal within the next week. SETTING THE PACE: Performance manager Darren Robinson leads the City squad in a run. German striker Nick Proschwitz has met with Steve Bruce at the Tigers' training camp in Portugal to negotiate a move to the KC Stadium. The SC Paderborn striker flew in from Germany with his agent and is said to be keen on a switch to East Yorkshire as a result. The finer details of a £2m transfer are still to be agreed, but Bruce is hoping to conclude the deal over the next week. "Nick has come out to the training camp and had a look at what we do," Bruce told the Mail. "Everything has been positive and we're hoping that we can tie up a deal. It's still a little bit off from what I can gather, club to club, and there's a few nuts and bolts to sort. "We'd hope to get him over early next week for a proper medical and look to see if we can take him by the end of the week if things go well." A move for Proschwitz has demonstrated City's spending power in the summer transfer market and would also represent the club's most expensive signing outside of the Premier League era. Given Proschwitz's lack of experience in the English game, Bruce accepts the deal would be something of a gamble. But having assessed the striker's strengths from several scouting reports, he is confident the 25-year-old can be a hit in the Championship. "He's big, 6ft 3in, but he's mobile and can finish," Bruce said. "His goals in Germany last year were all different types. He's young, at a good age and wants to come to England. "He's tailor-made for England in the way he plays but, of course, the big question will be how he can adapt. "There's always a question mark over any import. Can they settle? Can they adapt? "But he's been aboard before to Switzerland (with FC Thun) and I would hope he could settle in very quickly if the deal was to come off. "I've been impressed with how he's come across talking to him. His English is perfect too, much better than mine!" After solving a potential goalkeeping crisis by recruiting Ben Amos and Eldin Jakupovic in the last week, the capture of Proschwitz would be another box ticked in Bruce's squad strengthening. Inheriting a squad that produced just 47 goals in 46 Championship games last season, Bruce has been desperate to add another dimension to City's attack. Elsewhere, Bruce has been running the rule over son Alex at the Tigers' Algarve training camp. The experienced centre-half is without a club since leaving Leeds United at the end of last season but Bruce was coy over any future developments. "I've not really looked at it yet," said Bruce. "He's good enough, he's played in the Championship 250 times, but we'll see on that one." 35 Report
Indeed, 153 of them were in the Championship, not that it makes much difference, it's not his experience that concerns me.
