Is out for the rest of the season. Which brings the important question of... Who do we play in defence? Soto, Skrtel, Carragher, Wilson, Aurelio are currently our only fit defenders. So... what happens now? We lack any sort of RWB or LWB now that Johnson and Kelly are out; Agger missing from defence means we'll just be hoofing.... it's not looking good. I think at the moment our best line up would be: Carragher---Skrtel---Wilson---Aurelio Though this doesn't fill me with confidence, especially since then we only have 1 defender on the bench. The other alternative is to play 3 central defenders and have them spread out - obviously this leaves us defensively lacking, so somehow we're going to have to really pick up form now. Gerrard may also be out, we will know by the end of the week. Aurelio, Shelvey and Ngog back from injury. The only real solution I can think of is to pull some youngsters out of the reserves and give them first team opportunities - but it's risky. Perhaps we could call Ayala back from loan? but I'm not too sure.
I think Ayala would be the best idea if we can recall him as he's been playing on a regular basis. The remaining defenders we have just scare the hell out of me! Spearing Carra Ayala Aurelio I would have Robinson on standby for LB as we can't bank on Aurelios fitness. Spearing would do a job at RB.
id personally blood the youngsters in our remaining games , suarez and carroll up front to work on their partnership but all other positions up for grabs. Give gulacsi some game time , through sterling and suso into games for 30/35 mins at the end
That's a blow. Would have to agree with you with regards to the defence. Carragher will go to right back becuase he's played there before. Skrtel will play centre back with either Wilson or Kyrgiakos. Aurelio will be left-back as he is our only left-back. Let's all hope that we don't get any more injures because we are desperately short of cover in defence now.
I think Robinson could slide in at LB. Problem with going 3 in the back is who do we play on the wings that will work up and back? I think we are getting a little too this season is over talk when 5th is there to be had and you better believe we will be going for it so the youngsters will probably have to wait until next year ( see thread should the kids play). Robinson I can see gaining a spot and recall ayala if that is not feeling right and keep wilson there. I would rather wilson play CB but it could be another option.
