surely there should be more regulation, ie a fixed percentage or even fixed agent fees that should be published so as to discourage clubs from paying silly amounts of money to people that the game doesnt need. i read in gary nevilles autobiography that he never had an agent, just that he phoned up the PFA to find out what the going rate was for a player of his calibre and they did the deal there and then, with none of his contract going to an agent, now i know he never moved clubs but surely more players should be doing that
I heard the other day that the Jonothan Soriano deal was agreed, wages and all, and then the agent demanded 1mil euros. Apparently Huw told him where to go, and I'm glad he did. Apparently the Ruben Rochina deal to Blackburn was similarly played out...
Huw Jenkins is nothing but a legend, regardless of other people's views on him. Agents are nothing but money grabbing leaches. No place for them. All discussions regarding a transfer etc should be done between club and player, get rid of agents altoegether.
You have to have a balance on this issue, I don't think that doing away with agents all together, will be good for players, there would be plenty of clubs in those circumstances that would take advantage of players, remember clubs can be mercenary too, ask any Pro, or semi-pro, and I'm sure they'll have a tale or two, to tell about a club. What is needed in my view is a more rigorous regulating of Agents, to weed out the bad ones, and also a percentage, or fee cap, to make the obscene fees a thing of the past, it's time to bring in stronger regulation in my view!..................... please log in to view this image
what has Jenkins got to do with it?? he does what Morgan says, we would never have got to the premiership if it was not for Morgan over ruling skinflint the middle of last season.... old jinks has his uses.......as a gofa and making the coffee...
More people disagree with you than agree with you on that Dai, and while Morgan may (doubt it) control the purse strings, Huw was the one flying out to Barcelona to meet Soriano and his agent, so I'd say he has a lot to do with it, wouldn't you?
Not completely true Dai, some players are thick as a brick, and would be taken to the cleaners by some clubs, and while it's perfectly feasible to use a Solicitor, I think that Agents do have a place, but they are out of control at the moment!.............. please log in to view this image
Scott like i say he has his uses and where Morgan is a busy man running his business and jinks with nothing else to do other than act as a figurehead and take phone messages in the office then why not send Jenkins to do these jobs, he is only doing what the board wants him to do.....
