Not often i put any sort of words to type re politics or news stories of the world. Particularly on Gills not606. I accept I can tend to be very controversial in opinion. It's no hidden fact i've absolutely no time for the British media and even less time for politicians regardless of party. I'm very anti European, i see it as a destruction of individuality. People sometimes suggest i live in the past especially when i discuss my football views, whereas i tend to think they themselves have become a clone of the 21st Century. Any way to my write up on the 'Aftermath of Paris' - I hasten to add i found the events of that day shocking and i understand the anger, but i also form opinions much as most other people and here is an insight to mine with no intention to cause offence, I could probably of written war and peace so i saved you some agony - i don't pretend all references are researched to accuracy but i give it my best go, after all its merely just my opinion; Aftermath and follow on days from Friday, 13th November 2015 resembled something as if from out of the Movies, Halloween night, when the ghouls appeared, with selfie stick remembrance, feeding off the already media carnivorous frenzy of previous macabre events. Did some joker think it a great idea when a shrine of candles and flowers suddenly became trampled by human blind panic from the ignition of the idiot’s fire cracker. Power of media to create such insecurity and anxieties by portraying the state of unknown and a great possibility you might be the next victim of the faceless enemy within, stereotypical polarization of a terrorist such as Syrian rather than French or Belgium national and Schengen borders or maybe people have just woken up to the stark truth. The mere mention on the find of a passport played a great media and virtual weight in debate versus refugees as giving some sort of justified significance in looking for blame further afield than on our own doorstep. First or second generation immigrants in a great misuse of words, with the abstract of born here! Divide and rule like a Sykes and Picot agreement - de je vu September 2002 and Blair’s Parliamentary speech, 45 minutes from mass destruction, the very words that attributed to where we are today and 13 years on France declare war after this atrocity. The so called super power peace keeper alliance become war mongers, but surely even blowing Syria off the face of the map will not eradicate the problem of urban terrorism, 3,000 individuals in the UK alone known to the authorities. You only have to look at the London and Boston bombings to see this pattern, home grown or integrated products of terrorism through political entanglement and history coming back to bite you. Coincidence of fate an anniversary 100 years on, from November 1915 –March 1916, dividing the Arab provinces into future British and French control. Significant dates 9/11, 7/7 and now Friday 13th November, psychological ramification in justification of future actions. Then the little island political influence when the corporate elite rear’s its ugly head once again under Cameron’s premiership like some establishment consoling authority to attract greater significance than the Dalai Lama’s words that although it’s a kind and compassionate thing to do, but stop praying for Paris. While the idea to play the French National Anthem in the UK was described an act of solidarity and remembrance by a very different premiership, ironically one that still echoes the Thatcher social cleansing enterprise, all this despite having been nigh on 300 terrorist attacks throughout the world in 2015 before this! Those very same little islanders will now be emblazoned with the world war on terror siege mentality, enhanced by the propaganda machine, so called human beings that seek the perfect race in health and behaviours, but what the heck, let’s just bomb the hell out of them and wipe out the murderous sect! Let’s not worry about other innocent people that may get caught up in this mess, with no mention of women or children, we must retaliate with the vocal kill to whip up anger as Cameron seeks his votes through parliament. Those same caring people that walk blindly pass the homeless man on their very own streets. But that’s ok because they are not a threat, so why should you care about them or give them a first or second glance. Do you think the homeless person will have changed their avatar while praying for Paris when in search of warmth in the latter freezing November temperatures, may be they need an AK47 to get your attention, bit like why does a young man or woman strap a bomb to themselves, because they are mad, brain washed, it’s easier to say that then dissect the reasons or ask why they threw away the western ideals or why we place certain communities into a corner and forget about them, while the corporate world evolves. So called solidarity to help make us feel more European, political agenda’s for unification of a state all aided by the best news channel exclusives, live broadcasts, bringing you the news as it happens via the flicker of a screen. If only people could turn on and off their TV as easily has their emotions. You can’t escape it Facebook, Twitter the worldwide web is full of updates, so who is brain washing whom, how does the modern people identify propaganda and the belief that propaganda only happens in countries like North Korea. Saying a Pray for Paris swarms virtual like a plague of locus, Avatar’s changing to tricolour like some new ritual of emotion expressed from the comfort of an armchair, snug indoors, as we come together as one because France is not too far and it gives us comfort. After all it’s only a cross the channel. Let’s whip up more righteousness when a week on and in some bizarre twist of irony an advert featuring the Lord’s Prayer is banned from all UK Cinema’s as if it could offend those of differing faiths and no faith. I can see it now the horror movie goers insisting on indulging in some religious ritual of protest. If it makes people feel better what does it matter, let’s not worry about further afield countries and just hush for another minute silence or companionship of a national anthem - how dare me suggest its part of the modern day cloning process to manipulate an emotional state, to erode individuality, one state, one party, because as what was a quote earlier from a interviewed individual in a media report, it makes us feel more European! But let us not ignore the American drone attacks on Pakistan, while they kill hundreds of innocent women and children in search of a target. Let us not ignore nearly 300 children kidnapped in Nigeria and similar atrocities in Kenya, unless we are some European supremacy. Thoughts for the World, not Pray for Paris to enforce some European ideology, that cares more for its materialistic wealth and comforts than it does for those that are suffering, every second of every minute of every hour, everyday of every week of every month, and every year, other than just Friday the 13th!
brb I am sure that you, like me and 99.9% of decent people that do make up this world, are appalled at the inhumanity that man can inflict on its' fellow human being. When 'tragedies' occur, it is only right to pay respects and offer prayers for victims - both dead and living. I have recently talked about modern 'conflicts' having agenda that is not merely about the freedom of oppressed nations. It does seem that, in some situations, countries such as the U.S.A. will only 'interfere' if they stand to gain ( e.g. oil ). Whilst it might seem sympathetic to wring our hands in grief - where are the 'super economic countries' ( including Britain ), when there is so much oppression and slaughter in countries such as Nigeria and Honduras ( and many more poor countries) ? The answer - 'Nowhere.' Why ? Because it's not profitable for us. This makes a mockery of the so called compassion we have for the victims of Paris - in fact it smacks of hypocrisy - which in my opinion is worse than apathy ( which often prevails ). I am under no illusion that the 'peace' problems of the world are seemingly impossible to overcome - and will take a long time - and needs to be addressed by all genuinely peace loving nations working as 'one.' There is, however a need to pay due respect to victims on both sides of the conflict - because, as you say ( and I agree ), that anyone who can strap on a suicide belt, and blow themselves up, must surely be mad or brain washed, and perhaps to be pitied. But the World should not be selective in their out- pouring of grief and deny respect and sympathy to victims in poor countries - because all human life deserves to be dignified.
I agree alwaysright, I have no issue with people paying respects and offering prays for victims, but i'm going to touch on a taboo subject, should they not be sincere and genuine and not based on modern day cloned hysteria? I've been trying to think back to when every event has started to be marked in this way, was it 9/11, excluding things such as the annual Remembrance Sunday. I cannot remember this response across Europe or even France come to that during the IRA campaign of bombings. Now people could argue that is home territory problems but 11 people were killed and 67 injured during the Remembrance day bombings on the 8th November 1987. Let's go back further in years but still in November the same as Paris to 1974, when 21 CIVILIANS were killed in the Birmingham pub bombings. So did we go and bomb Ireland, no because like France, Belgium and the UK, the terrorists are based on home soil. I've said before you can go wipe Syria off the world map, but this problem is not going to go away, political agendas have existed in this region for over 100 years as highlighted in the OP. I would be interested to know when the last day was ISIS or Syria did not at least get a mention on Sky News? I wouldn't be surprised if it has been solid daily now for at least the last 6 months, although probably more 12 months. This in turn feeds and sways public opinion, so that Cameron could at least win the vote, in the same way Blair bulldozed into Iraq on a pack of lies through the media. There has been much bigger atrocities around the world than Paris that have hardly touched airtime, whereas ISIS/Syria gets coverage 24/7. So what is wrong with this people may ask, well, the British Media not just feeding the public but also encouraging the continued cycle of this evil machine (ISIS) they constantly air. Because ISIS can only scare the British public through their own style of evil propaganda of beheading's and other evil stuff if it is aired! Think about it, why would any news agency feed you something like this daily for a year, unless there was some form of propaganda behind it, unless the media see's itself as some sort of European state nanny and instigator of right from wrong. Hang on, who voted that part of the establishment into power? I'm sure most of our readers have seen Hilary Benn's speech by now. Yes, great speech but sure as anything the media were going to play it constantly the next day for two reasons, other than just the speech, because it came from the opposition and they wanted to convince the public by such an outstanding speech, that bombing Syria was the right thing, why because Hilary Benn says so or is that because Sky or other outlets want to convince you so. The whole media game, has been a mass build up to feed you into the frenzy we now see, politician and government controlled, not free. I don't want to see censorship but at the same time i don't want to constantly view a government/europe/american war mongering soapbox platform on my TV. Let's go back three or four decades, turn off your social media, turn off all the 24 hour news channels, burn all the tabloids (although they did exist), now would you be saying a prayer for Paris, now would you be insisting on bombing Syria, maybe (although Ireland would suggest otherwise), but at least it would be more an individual choice rather than one spoon fed daily. What's this really about, the POWER of the MEDIA.
