Maybe we should start asking ourselves who's going out. AVB had his plans to dump many of the Chelsea of guard. O.k. He didn't succeed, but he's certain to find faces in our current squad, who he thinks don't fit....which could include anybody he thinks doesn't fit his system, or doesn't have the right attitude.

well there's the obvious ones and likely ones that will go: (sorry if some have already gone and I've not realised)

    Dos santos
    Bassong
    Gomes
    Khumalo
    Jenas
    Bentley
    Bostock?
    Pienaar
    Obika?
    Defoe?

Then those that Could go, but most of us would probably agree we don't want to see depart:

    VDV
    Huddlestone

    already prepared for departure:

    Modric

    That's a lot. <yikes>

    Squad

    1. Gomes
    2. Cudicini
    3. Friedel

    4. Kaboul
    5. Dawson
    Caulker (under 21)

    6. Kyle Walker
    7. Kyle Naughton
    8. Benoit Assou-Ekotto

    9. Bale
    10. Huddlestone
    11. Parker
    12. VDV
    13. Modric
    14. Sigurdssen
    15. Lennon
    16. Livermore
    17. Sandro
    Townsend (under 21)
    18. Rose

    19. Defoe

    To come (please god)
    Vertonghen
    Adebayor

    Doubts
    King

Leaving us with the names above that are likely to go. So if Verts and Ade come, Ledley stays another year, that's only 22 players - 3 still to find even if we don't lose Modric and/or VDV. Have I missed anyone?

With Disciple's squad (including the To Come's and King) still looks short up front and in central defence and heavy in midfield.
    Has Gallas gone?

I'd agree with most of that. Apart from obvious cases, like our clapped out Bentley, I have a feeling Defoe will be gone. I also have a sneaking suspicion that AVB may not care for Benny's attitude!...

I love Benny but truth is if AVB thinks he needs to stop lolling as much then ill back AVB because i think there is room for improvement in BAE's game...and the bit he can do with improving is his attention span ,mentality etc..so you could be right NSS.

As much as we know how well Benny can play, we also know there's one of his goofs lurking, you know it, I know it, our players know it. It doesn't instill complete confidence, a FB like A. Cole does. Complete confidence in your back 4 is essential for your keeper and your MF.

Not a popular thing to say, with some, on this site. But, I totally agree. I suppose the conundrum for AVB is, do the good bits outweigh the bad? IMHO, the answer is no!.

I've got a hunch VdV and AVB might clash, he's already said he liked Harry's laid back approach (very Dutch!) and a lack of "boring tactic meetings". It wouldn't surprise me either if Modric stayed...he's been awfully quiet for one so keen to do one! If you think about it he has limited options, its still a 4yr deal to buy out for whoever, and the few clubs that can afford him aren't busting their balls yet. I thought he was desperately needed in all of these teams. Who knows, one of his reasons for wanting to leave may have been looking for a more modern professional approach.

...and the lottery numbers are!...... :D

Khumalo is supposedly off on loan to PAOK - which saves me the postage costs at the very least...

Modric might stay, he was keen to join AVB at Chelsea last year so obviously rates the guy and may decide to have one more season at Spurs.

Given the Hellenic nature of PAOK, we'd be lucky to get enough souvlaki for the squad's matchday lunch...

I've doubted for some time now that Modric is going anywhere. Levy's reputed price to a Prem rival is £50mil. The only possible interested party at that price would be The Chavs, and I doubt even the Russian gangster will pay that price. Abroad - possibly Real, but they won't pay £40mil, IMO. outside chance of PSG, but that would suggest that Modric's real motivation is financial, and not, as he has claimed, a desire to win trophies.

But was he keen to join avb, or was it the money and Chelsea's recent record of trophies?

I don't think he gives 2 ****s about AVB. The trophies is the excuse, but the money is the reality. It doesn't matter what we think about out the chavs, they have won stuff in recent years. fact. - so therefore modric can use that as the cover up. This is why real Madrid is another option for him now.

I just don't get how someone who was desperate to go to Chelsea last summer is now looking elsewhere, when Chelsea Won the CL and FA cup this year! Their bragging rights are stronger if anything!!

Just proves its all about money.

A move to PSG would Be the icing on the cake. Ligue 1? Pfft. Don't make me laugh!! And they are years from winning the CL too.

I don't care now if he stay's or goes, just as long as,if he goes it's abroad, not to another PL team

I see that Talkshite & Goal.com are both carrying a story from some Croatian site called www.24sata.hr? It says that Modric has agreed terms with Real, but admits that agreement with Spurs is still a "stumbling block" talkshite claims the fee is £28mil...yeah right!!...

I think so too. I guess it's good that he wants to give players another chance though and plus if no offers come in for Defoe we'd lose some of his value trying to force him out whilst signing 3 new strikers in a month.
