Im still as baffled as I was when I first heard. I tossed and turned last night, looked at all the stats on the names being bandied about and none of them made me feel any better about Mon being sacked. I just can't see anyone that good taking the job with 7 games to go and possible relegation. Surely any smart man would just say ask me again at the end of the season.

I fear its going to be an ex England Manager, the wolly with the brolly or The Swede with an eye for former weather girls.

How are we all feeling this morning?

I woke up this morning and thought to myself "did it really happen, or did I dream it?" One glance on the interent confirmed things for me

As for who becomes the next manager.......

The situation calls for an experienced PL level manager. Signing up an unproven manager such as Ole Gunner Solskyar (spelling) would not be a gamble that Ellis Short would be willing to make IMO. He will demand the best he can get to protect his investment.

If it was me making the decision, it would be Roberto Di Matteo.

I do hope we're not headed the way of Wolves and Newcastle. Really hoping Ellis has someone lined up who can come in and have a quick effect on the players morale.

Roberto Di Matteo may be the best available to us at the minute but if we stay up and he's manager next season all I see is another season of struggle and scrapping down the bottom.

Might sound nuts but I think Peter Reid could give us a lift in the stands and a rocket up the arses of the players. 7 games, win 2 or 3 and we might stay up. Who's got the stones for the job?

not sure who he will appoint but this has been brewing for a long time. i'm not sure he will choose 'experience'. didn't work out for us last time.....

we were heading straight down under MON, who - after his initial burst - was never the same manager without JR. i've no gripes with the players he let go, but the signings he brought in this January, combined with a stubborn/negative style of play and some very odd/confidence sapping PR statements have been his downfall. damn shame, for a fellow fan, but we have played well once all season at home to the Hammers and he had to go.

i'd gun for Ole. diCanio isn't a stayer. diMatteo is a bottler. diDutchfumbleris a ****. maybe Coyle?

We might end up doing what Chelsea has and bring in a bloke initially just until the end of the season then go all out for someone big when it's all done & dusted. Just a theory though. Whatever happens though were going to have to settle for a manager that doesn't mind managing at championship level as it is a real possibility.

Any ****er but MccLaren, I got a feeling it'll be Hughes although Poyet and DiCanio can't be ruled out, no chance of Moyes coming here

I just hope ES already knows who mons replacement is. And I hope it's not McClaren I would be devastated

He must know or why would he get rid of mon now with 7 games to go.

A lot seem to think Di Matteo is the answer to our ills why?
All I remember is him inheriting a very good squad with world class players, we don't have that. At his previous club he was dog **** lads which is what he will be with us, as our team is dog **** that is 50% of the problem.
Agreed however that he is the best of a ****ing terrible bunch of no hopers.

When news broke at about 9.30 last night I was a little shocked at the timing. He should have gone after QPR at home.
After about five minutes I was completely blase & nonchalant about it. Let's face it, the writing's been on the wall for some time.

Think the timing has confused many mate, if he was going to sack him like you say he should have done it 4/5 games ago or at the end of the season for me anyway. 7 games to keep us up is a tall order for all of the numpties we are linked with.
Happy days again mate and another rebuild season.
