Bobby, that's kind of you my friend, can you just make sure I'm not the medicine ball... please log in to view this image
Dunno if this is the same plane. It looks similar. Doesn’t really matter. This is what’s happening to some of those trying to cling on
It was only going to end badly, it was obvious there was no way of accessing that plane, even if you stow in the wheel well, the altitude will kill you.
If I'm going to die, give me a gun, I'll go out in Comm style, he'd be proud of me. You think I'm joking, better to go like this than fall from a plane... please log in to view this image
Just think of the orange boiler suit with your head being chopped off.....put a bullet in yourself, cut out the middle man.
I reckon you probably would you crazy baatard! On a serious note, I really don't see how we can judge them as anything less than hardened bastards when push comes to shove. They've spent the best part of the last 45 years fighting Russians and Americans and the Brits, arguably 3 of the most powerful military forces in the world with nothing more than AK47's, rocket launchers and land minds. You have to have balls to do that. We've not been invaded as a nation for over 1000 years but somehow we already know we'd do it different lol. They've known nothing but invasion, down in the dirt warfare for the best part of 1000 years and certainly enough in the past 45 years to show they have balls.
I'm wondering looking at the news if the reporter Stuart Ramsey is still in Kabul, fook knows how he's going to get out. Although he probably has a lot of connections to ensure his safety.
Was wondering about Lyse Doucet. She lives in Afghanistan, and seems like the sort of correspondent who would want to stay there and report.
Last time I fired a weapon, I nearly shot my instructor, so them Taliban better watch out. It was an accident, I just squeezed the trigger without thinking.
I'm sure I heard on GMB this morning that Taliban put out a statement that all journo's will not be harmed. Fck knows how much to believe that but that's what they said. Edit: except the Afghan ones, they're fcked
The British lads who went over to fight with the Kurdish militias against ISIS either kept a spare round for themselves if they were ever surrounded and run out of ammo or some of them kept a grenade to lie on incase of being in a similar situation and hopefully taking out enemy with them.
Yeah a lot of the top journo's will have connections with some of the leaders in the top groups. It don't guarantee their safety, but it carry's more weight than you or me could do to prevent our deaths.
Exactly Saff, I actually thought about that with the grenades just strap a few to myself, see how many I can take down as I die.
If British men had have been tying themselves to planes to get away when the luftwaffe were all over our skies and an invasion looking likely, I would have had zero sympathy for them, too.
Stuart Ramsey and Alex Crawford, seem to get around in some of the most difficult terrains, I'm sure their luck could run out one day, but I hope not. Got a lot of respect for them.
I think that the Taliban are trying to make things as easy and as quiet as possible. You want to leave? Out you go. You want to report on a relatively peaceful transition? Go ahead. It's smart. Reduces the likelyhood of any country kicking off and they can get on with the takeover. How long will it last? No idea. Wouldn't depend on it myself, if I was out there. Lots of speculation about them doing deals with China, though. Getting access to their minerals and drugs while keeping a possible threat quiet would suit the Chinese.
