Yes. Every time we find another one, I remember. Poyet, we just were'nt on the ball, but when you add Gomez to the mix, and many others, it goes from carelessness to downright stupidity.
His joke about the Fantastic European Scouting Network finding us top players from a wider base was another cracker. It was meant as a joke I take it?
Yep - yet people still blindly trust him. Why some corners are so bothered by criticizing anything the club or its employees do has worn thin with me.
I don't understand what you mean here. Surely he has come through the ranks, u18, u21, First XI? It is just that he did so very rapidly. Do you mean he was not with us from (say) 12 or 13? I do not know how many of those who make it to the Development Squad, let alone the First Team Squad, have done so. Very few I imagine, though I really do not have a clue. Maybe Dick or AllHell could comment?
He has gone from parks football to being one of the best players in a Championship side in just over a year. Beats Vardy's and Austin's progress.
No....no. you are wrong there Nick, Old Pointy Head was quite right as we are not selling our best players to survive... in the case of Morrison and Watt .... we are now just giving them away
It wasn't a shot. A question. The original point is I hope he does have an affiliation to the club, similar to the boys that have been here for 3-6+ years.
We've seen two excellent youngsters break into the team, Lookman and T H-D. This would normally make most fans pretty happy, especially those of us who follow such things, but not now. We don't expect the team to improve as a result, just expect it to be part of Roland's Plan to make Charlton pay through the Academy. Lookman's emergence will reinforce his theory that The Plan will work by selling one-a-year.
The only thing that may hold Lookman back is his size. No doubt Meire will look to protect her impending bonus by investing in a stretching rack.
Back in the day you produced good young players that you knew would maybe go on to better things as they progressed but you knew you'd get a few seasons out of them be selling now it's a few games which takes away the pride us fans feel when one of our own makes the grade . This mob are parasitical bar stewards !
I just expect our young players to be better than our first team players now. We have heavily relied on our academy for the past 4 years yet we will see next to no long term benefit. Any other team in this division with an academy like ours would have built a class team. We may have one of the smallest budgets in the league but surely we could show some ambition? Derby have held on to Hughes, Leeds onto their couple of players. All the critics of the last board seem to forget that even they turned down a bid for Chris Solly from West Ham. If we had Duchieboy in charge then he would have bitten his ****ing hand off.
Holmes - Dennis could be the best of the lot, IMO. He reminds me of Ashley Cole. Two footed, very skilful, and very fast. The contrast to Fox is embarrassing. Imagine all the lovely jubbly booty flowing into Roly's League One coffers next summer.....Lookman.....Holmes-Dennis.....Cousins.....none of them will be gracing the League One Cloggers League in front of 5,000 crowds.
Not for much longer, I think. Then there's Archie Edwards then the kid who plays LB for the U-18's at the moment. Maybe Roland will sell them off one at a time and keep Fox (if ManU don't swoop for him)
Fraeye got too cute against Brighton and thought Fox was the better defensive option against their "strong, right side". Horrendous decision. Having Sarr and Fox in the same back 4 will see us relegated. That isn't a statement said for affect. It's said because it's accurate.
Could FHB, AHLL and Dickie Plum draw up a list of our quality Academy products please, and the order in which they will be sold. Estimated transfer values would also be helpful, in case Roland is looking in.
Add to that Solly's dip in form, even Bauer has not been so solid recently, not to mention the effects of playing every game on Diarra, we appear to be in the brown stuff defensively. If Kashi ever returns from injury that might help, but last time I saw him he was playing almost like a 3rd CB. So we're becoming dependant on 3 kids Lennon, T H-d and Lookman who have each started about one game in their favoured position.
