Ok you all convinced me! I remember him scoring a lot as a late sub, but not when he started. So he's another half striker like AJ. We still need 2 more.
Important to remember TF has said we are going to bring 1 player in only. Do I want that 1 player to be him: No Le Fondre is too light weight and the reason he doesn’t start more regularly for Reading is that he doesn’t contribute enough in his general play. We need a striker capable of playing up front on his own as well as part of a pair. Because if Austin gets injured we are fooked. In any case I don’t think he would want to come to us. If he’s leaving it would be to be a guaranteed starter and he wouldn’t be that with us. If we get promoted we'd get another couple of strikers in and he'd go back to being lucky to get off the bench every now and then.
Ahh but if Harry loses Carrol, that could then mean, 1 out; 2 in ??? Net 1 in ??? Hitchcocks recall is promising. I wouldn't be surprised if we got 2 strikers
This article was released half an hour ago: "Reading FC loanee Sharp urges saints to sort out his future" - http://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/s...ee-sharp-urges-saints-to-sort-out-his-future/ It all sounds up in the air, we could nick in there? Unless Reading get their ownership problems sorted out in the next month, they won't be able to fork out for Sharp.
Exactly, that concerns me a little - I realise that he has scored a good number of goals when used in the super sub role, but why so rarely used at the start of a game, rather than trying to pull one out of the fire at the death?
Better than BZ (although that's not saying much) with a reasonable record so have to be a yes from me.
Poldoski was the most accurate shooter in 2013, scoring 44.44% of his chances, Adam Le Fondre was 2nd with 38.89%
So what we saying, they both had 4 shots all season then. Stats dont show or prove much in relatin to an overall game. Ask Flyer
So we have separate threads running on Cole, Jelavic and Le Fondre. Let's face it, there will be no good value in this window, either we take a punt on someone lower league and untried and hope, or short term contract/loan until the end of the season. With our risk averse manager I'd guess we will go for the latter. Of these three I know Jelavic hasn't been playing and is a bit goal shy, but I think his movement and experience would be great in this league . Le Fondre hasn't been playing for Reading, and was a super sub last year, but either of these until the end of the season would not be a disaster. Cole no thanks, so he is the most likely one.
I'm sorry Grif but that's one of the features that we can't edit. You'd have to re-do the poll. Btw it was a yes from me.
Why start him when you know he will score every time he comes on? Use a big forward to tire the defenders out and then bring on a nippy one later on.
I suggested him 3 years ago as one to watch and was laughed at, certainly knows where the net is when given the chance would make a great partner for Charlie
Ahh, no worries nines! I understand he's only a poacher though, and doesn't contribute anything else to the side. As someone on the Reading forum said- "there's no room for someone who doesn't run the channels, hold the ball up, create for others etc."
We need a big target man too,to win some headers and hold the ball up. I can hear you giggle but Grant Holt?.
