Durham Police said a 27-year-old had been arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a girl under 16. An officer later said he had been bailed. Sunderland AFC said he had been suspended pending the outcome of the police investigation. News of the arrest of a Premier League footballer was revealed earlier in The Sun newspaper. The Sunderland-born winger joined Middlesbrough's youth academy and made his senior debut at the age of 17, in a 2005 Uefa Cup game. He was loaned out to Leeds United then Watford, returned to Middlesbrough and then in 2010 made a £7m move to Manchester City. please log in to view this image Adam Johnson joined Sunderland from Manchester City in 2012 and also played for Middlesbrough In 2012 he signed for Sunderland on a £10m deal, and was handed the Barclays Player of the Month award in January 2014 after scoring a hat-trick in an away win against Fulham. He has also represented England at under-19 and under-21 levels, and at senior level 12 times. His last England appearance was in a friendly win over Italy in August 2012. His arrest came shortly before he was due to travel with Sunderland to Hull for Tuesday night's Premier League fixture. Sunderland said it would make no further comment on the arrest.
What can you say when we haven't got the facts. I know that the girls when I was young were getting into clubs at the age of 14. Hell, my missus did too. You can't condone what he's allegedly done. I wouldn't be surprised if the defence didn't involve "she said she was 18" and "what was she doing in the bar when she's underage?" etc It's a mine field out there and society has got to take some blame with the continual sexualising of kids.
Today In the Pop World - An overpaid sportsman has been arrested on suspicion of sex with a minor and Police have not release any details, which usually means they don't have much other than an accusation to go on. His girlfriends mum has said that he and her daughter are 'very close' and 'absolutely still together'. She added: 'He is 100 per cent innocent and we will stand by him. He hasn't been found guilty of anything. He is a great lad and has not done anything wrong. This is a horrible situation. He has been released on police bail pending on-going investigations While In the real word - In Sub-Saharan Africa 3.1 MILLION children die of starvation each year, globally, 20.9 MILLION people are victims of forced labour (SLAVES), there's an estimated 100 MILLION people; almost ONE QUARTER OF THE WORLDS POPULATION, living without shelter. Their horrors continue unchecked, unchallenged and their stories remain untold, probably because they don't have mobile phones I suppose.
Was with you till the last comment - but he has to take responsibility for being unfaithful to his partner. Society should be less accepting of hypocrisy - The Sun, which largely sells on its objectification of women is also the first to condemn when people live by their morals. The Sun exists in the gutter and delights in exposing those who sink to their level.
Unfortunately Bob while the masses are prepared to read this tripe and put sporting stars and other D-list celebs on their undeserved pedestals we'll have to live in the society that loves to pick up on wrong doings while ignoring their own. Take the banking crisis (which we all love to talk about). It was all the banks fault but no-one ever points the fingers at those who were happy to lap up the free money/credit without a thought of paying it back. Personal responsibility - Where did it disappear to? (Apologies for sounding like Mr Meldrew)
"Take the banking crisis (which we all love to talk about). It was all the banks fault but no-one ever points the fingers at those who were happy to lap up the free money/credit without a thought of paying it back". do you really understand how it works dude because it doesn't sound like it 2me ...........crashes happen for a reason, and its not the working class fella causing it, however much they try and make it sound like its from our greed.......it aint................the fat cats are blowing hundreds of thousand and if not millions at sh.i.t(real materialistic sh..it) whilst we pay for the crash by being made redundant and losing everything in the mean time. you must pay attention masterofnone, after all the workings of this banking system is clearly visible for them 2 make money for the already stinking filthy rich. as for the op...........I`ll leave that 2 you old hens 2 peck at,
Yes Aber I do understand it actually after working in the industry for 10 years and having the qualifications to prove it. What I'm saying is if the bad debt didn't exist - the 100+% mortgages, the maxed out credit cards, etc - then it couldn't have been sliced up, packaged up with a higher rating, sold back to investors who didn't look under the bonnet of what they were buying and not fallen apart like dominoes when the markets moved and the first person defaulted. Yes the retail banks sold the 100% mortgages (encouraged by the government who wanted everyone on the housing ladder and by everyone's assumption that housing prices would only ever go up). The retail banks extended credit to those who had no money to speak of and were happy in the assumption the debt and the massive interest would be paid. You don't think Joe Bloggs should have thought "you know what, I can't afford this PS4/pack of ***s/new car so best not get into debt"? The investment banks who then bought the bad debt, repackaged it and sold it have a lot to answer for and plenty of innocent people lost their jobs even within the banks. But if right at the start there was personal responsibility - from the lender, loanee, banker, etc then it could have been avoided as the debt wouldn't have been there. But that's greed for you - everyone, from rich to poor, wants something for nothing. But we don't teach any of this in schools (I know I wasn't taught it). And if the regulator actually did what they were meant to rather than being a waste of tax payers money that would have helped too. Anyway, I'm sure we're all tired of this discussion and have debated it over many a pint and laid blame at everyone's door. Differing opinions is how progress is made.
correct bob.............its all labours fault.............I tell you what tho fk chucking the bankers in the slammer for fraud, tell cun.ty George davies he gotta pay his time in clink for not keeping up the payments on the ps4 he felt pressured into buying for his kids last Christmas..........................we don't wanna spoil the rich mans fun do we..........they got paintings, twat cars and a wag 2buy.
Well that's another plonka who has ruined his career, What is a matter with these idiots. There are no excuses however much he pleads...he's finished as a top class player....
I don't think sexualisation of children is an issue that contributed here, the problem is the girls parents who failed their duty to raise her responsibly. To go even further the children of today are less sexualised than at any time 200 to 300 years previous. Laws were introduced to prevent adults having such relationships and before this they were encouraged to seek marriage from their very early teens, even with adults. Since the rule of the ministers really took hold children have been the least sexualised in the history of the human species. So I put the blame squarely at the feet of the parents for raising a teen drinker who sleeps around. Should have added that is a generalisation of underage girls going to adult bars and sleeping around, not the Adam Johnson case in particular.
yeah blame the parents ........how the fk can anyone blame anybody without out any evidence is beyond me.....just saying like
Nothing to do with the Johnson giving his Johnson to someone other than his long term partner, then? Just those pesky Lolitas waiting to predate on innocent 28 year old men. While he may have had no idea of her age and may not have done anything illegal he was certainly not worried about acting immorally. Play with fire and you'll eventually get burnt.
Adam is far from innocent bob if it is proven that he had sex with a minor. These young girls are besotted with anyone famous and age dont come into it in their young minds,... They all read these countless girl magazines that has nothing but sex stories of who is shagging who and they see these models on the pages that have been air brushed to look perfect that if you see them in real life have zits and acne just like any other teenager.....Being rich and famous is no excuse to sleep with children because thats what they are at the end of the day and saying she told me she was 18 is no excuse....you check and double check and if not sure dont shag her....
Lets not hang the man yet! This girl could well be a fantasist and made it up. It has already been reported that she was besotted with him and always thought that she could be his girlfriend.
Nobody is hanging him Bap666 Im pointing out that there is no excuses if he is found guilty as a minor cant be blamed in law.
Sorry Dai, I agree with you that a minor cannot be blamed, however if a guy goes to a nightclub, pulls a girl, you have to ask why she is there in the first place. You going to be under the impression she is old enough for consensual sex, and since when should it always be down to the guy to take the brunt of the blame? If he had purposely gone out and had sex with a minor and knew about it, then by all means hang him up by his balls, but if its merely down to not being aware and being under the assumption she was old enough, like anyone would when being in a nightclub, then I am sorry but no. A slap on the wrist for being naive and or very stupid, anything more in my opinion is just plain wrong. I would have the same opinion had it been a reversal of sexes. You cannot blame the older person for sleeping with someone from a nightclub or any such venue. I have to admit I have only heard it was a nightclub, I may well be wrong and someone knows more information.
