Roberto Mancini has decided to offload unhappy Manchester City winger Adam Johnson at the end of the season in a move that has sparked immediate interest from Sunderland. The 24-year old, snapped up from Middlesbrough for £7million two years ago, has grown restless at a lack of starting opportunities and is ready for a fresh start. Mancini is in no mood to stand in his way, after harbouring doubts over his attitude and willingness to accept defensive responsibility, and will listen to offers. Rare appearance: Adam Johnson (left) is not a regular at Manchester City A £10m asking price, and wages of £50,000 a week, are likely to rule Everton out of the race, despite manager David Moyes' interest. Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill, however, will do everything he can to put together a package that would be acceptable to City and Johnson and is the frontrunner for his signature. Gerrin been tracking this one, local lad wants a move im sure we can come up with a package to interest him, and seeing as our team is on the up, he knows we only need about 4 good signings to really go forward next year
His Family are Sunderland but he was on the books of Newcastle as a youngster before boro got him, so he supports or at least has a soft spot for Newcastle as they were the ones that gave him his first chance.
now now mate you wouldn't want to wish that on any aspiring footballer now would you, hell be the apple of his mum and dads eye when he signs for the makems.
ah but his mam and dad are here loves the area, and the biggest of all has a heart for us, luvly jublee
Sorry but I know Man Utd want a good winger and regardless of who he supports if they put a bid in, we both lose. Also, his parents might be one of you but he is one of us so if he wants to go to his boyhood club then happy days!
I will join in the celebrations when he signs, I had Cissi signed up then, well, we know what happened next.
good move for him to go from man city to being hated by them and still sitting on the bench at the devils
If he leaves City who will finish first or second he will go for regular football. Man U, competing with.. Chelsea, competing with.. Spuds, competing with.. Gooners, has a chance Newcastle depends on Ben Arfa Sunderland, regular games, family ties, MON..we have a chance
Liverpool more likely destination. QPR will be throwing money around too if the stay up. He supported Newcastle as a youngster he said so himself in an interview after a game. Great player but can't see him being at SAFC next year.
I do, I think Pardew will decide he doesn't fit perfectly into our new system and will cash in while he can. If we can replace him with Adam Johnson we'll have much better balance.
Would be an amazing signing if it happened. 1 advantage we will have over the top side is he would play every week, I am sure this will be in his thinking as he does not want to end up on the bench all the time like he has at City. It could end up between us and the mags in which case we might be stuffed if they get champions league football. If not then I could see him coming to us because we will be more desperate so will probably offer more money. It would be a very MON signing too, young english player with EPL experience.
