Just think he is not good enough for league 2 , he has had Chances but I just feel when he comes on he is not going to score , maybe I'm too critical .

Not sure he's had enough of a chance yet. It's really tough to make an impact when you're only getting short periods of game time here and there.

I'm sure other not606 Gills members will be able to give a better measure of this one than me. But I just feel sometimes he has not been given the opportunity, maybe the stats suggest otherwise, so unsure. Cody is in my simple terms what I class as a goal poacher, takes on the opportunity of every opposition mistake. Does Birchall fall in to that same category or is the supply not working from Keds or Burton. Or maybe as you say he might just not be good enough, although that has not been my thoughts. If Cody was not around I would be quite happy to play Birchall up front instead of both the big lads.

brb to sort of alter your point I would more say that Cody is a finisher as opposed to goal poacher. Cody can make chances out of nothing and then have the shot to produce the goal. I think Adam Birchall falls more into the fox-in-the-box type of striker. Can be deadly when given time in the box but outside the box only his pace can offer something. Kind of like Jo Kuffour last year, also the height of Birchall and Kuffour match more of that type of striker. If we were to play 3 up top then I think Birchall could be very effective cutting in and shooting inside the box whilst also having the options of perhaps McDonald and Weston/Whelpdale.

Last night Cody had 90 minutes and didn't score, Burton had 64minutes and didn't score, Birchall had 26 minutes and didn't score.

That sounds like he did as well as all the others on the night.:emoticon-0100-smile

Obviously he did, but can you see Adam scoring any of the goals that Cody has so far put away. For example,I think it was the goal Cody got against York. The ball was crossed to the far post , and although Kedwell was there, Cody was in between him and the defender and headed the ball home. I want Adam to do well, and although he hasn't had much game time, I'm afraid he doesn't fill me with confidence that he's going to score. I think the injury he had has stopped him getting in where it hurts. When I've seen him play, he just seems to hesitate for that split second before going in hard for the ball. Understandable, probably, but its not what a professional striker should do if he wants to stay in league football.
