According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Magpies are keeping a close eye on the promising duo who have impressed in a difficult season for the Black Cats. Sunderland appear to be destined for relegation to League One this season and as a result of this, they may be vulnerable to player sales in the summer transfer window. please log in to view this image Nigel Roddis/Getty Images Sport Both players are attackers who have stood out for Sunderland when they have been given the chance to shine and they have certainly caught the eye of many, including Newcastle, with some exciting performances. Sunderland are claimed by the Daily Mail to have already offered the young duo new and improved long-term contracts at the club. However, the prospect of League One football is likely to be somewhat unappealing for the pair. Maja has found the net once in the Championship this season, whilst Asoro has scored on two occasions.
I'm not sure it's fair to say they have "stood out". They look decent prospects and I reckon one of them will push on next year if they stick with Sunderland. If they go to a Premiership team I just can't see them playing, they'll be loaned out. Currently bottom half of Championship standard at best I think and they should stay with Sunderland.
