So how do all you bristol city fans think of mcinnes. Was he the right choice or should it of been mark robins?
Got to admit, I wanted Jones and wasn't impressed by the boards decision, but I am absolutely thrilled they did it, I think he's our Alex Ferguson, the new messiah, "hopng so anyway", "ARISE SIR DEREK"... onward and ever upward....
Jones is old school - the new generation of managers in Lambert, Di Canio, Adkins, Clark, McKay, Howe just to name a few are the way forward with new ideas, enthusiasm, etc They say that the team reflects the personality of the manager on the pitch and this point is amply proven - DM is a WINNER, its just a question of how far we can go with him...
if we ain't in pre at least once in the next five years he will be disappointed he has winner written all over him could still get to wembley if we play like we been playing
Never wanted Jones but DM ticked all the boxes for me once I'd learned about him. We're now in the mix for survival but we mustn't get carried away...There's a long way to go yet
i wanted Jones before Derek was even mentioned, and when he was i just laughed at the idea, but when i started to read in to him i liked him and as the days went buy he won me over until it got to the point that it was Del boy i wanted and nobody else, and when there chairmen said we had not contacted them i got disappointed but was relieved when we were allowed permission i was over the moon DEL BOYS CIDER ARMY
DM was my choice after looking at his cv, captain when playing, tells me he's a leader, did fantastic for St Johnston, the man's a winner. Staying in the championship is still a tough job, but i think the board made the right choice, if he instills his winning mentality to the players i think we will survive.
I'm absolutely delighted with the current form, but its too early to start judging him really. He has certainly had a huge positive effect so far but there is a lot of work still to be done and we are still in the relegation zone. We have passed one psychological test: conceding a goal but remaining on track and focussed - the next, bigger test will be losing a game and bouncing straight back. When we have done that I will be totally convinced (if we actually lose again of course - if we don't I'll remain undecided )
His post/pre match interviews don't make me want to fall into a comatose state either so that's a plus
I was not keen on Mr. Jones to be honest - lot of resources at Cardiff and not the end product. I knew nothing about McInnes but his CV excited me and the fact that he was Scottish was a big plus... they just breed good managers who take no nonsense which was clearly a polar opposite to Millen. He's done well in his first 4. Now we need to see if this is a long term turn around or a knee jerk reaction by some of the squad. This year is just about survival. In the summer we will likely see a clear out and Del will start to build his team. That's when it will become very interesting. For now we need to catch the pack and then try and get to mid table. Any team that can put together a decent unbeaten run can get up this league quickly as anyone can beat anyone. That's about all we should be hoping for this year.
Originally would of preferred Dave Jones or Billy Davis, glad I didn't get to choose the manager. early days we know, but the more I hear from him the more I like him.
I also would have chosen Jones (well, you have seen my posts) but I am delighted so far and we seem to have gambled and won - maybe!!!
We have won bcfc, DM will go onto become a top manager, he will eventually move on to a bigger club than ours.
Never heard of the guy until city showed interest. Early days but he certainly has turned us around. Not going to get over excited just yet,but saturday was a performance as good as any for a couple of years.
exactly, must not get carried away, at 23 games played we need to be on 25 points, bottom 3 this season might just be a bit higher than last, 52 points could be safe, that must be our first target..52 points, ITS simple really LOSE 10 DRAW 10 WIN 10
I would hope that we win more than 10 games between now and the end of the season... The longer DM has to work with the players, the more his influence will come to bear and we will develop his mentality to the game. I note he was very happy with (most) of the squad when he got here and as we have all said over time, managed properly, we will comfortably survive in this division. DM must have been happy as a pig in s..t when he had a good look at the quality of our forward line. He has clearly identified that it needs feeding and now he just has to work out how to get the most out of it... On that note, I think the board will be happy to back him with any loans/signings he brings in. He obviously knows the Scottish scene and if we can get a couple of real top quality players relatively cheap (cos they are mostly skint now), this could be the missing part of the jigsaw...
bcrw If employing any manager is a gamble then true, the board took a lot of time in appointing DEMI so hopefully have not just taken a punt....I would say it is a calculated risk... done with certainty and consideration !!!!!!!
