Yet again i'd find this surprising. Like Tav. What is the point of sending them out on loan, they excel and then we flog them?

I would not be surprised if these little sales are Ashley telling Pardew he can only have a certain number of players, certain wage levels, certain budgets, and now Pardew is trying everything he can to get quality into the squad.

If this is true, I don't know what I'll do. We've just seen a player make the very most out of a loan season, helping his club qualify for the CL by doing a sterling job as attacking midfield and scoring plenty of goals. The two choices open to the club must be to sell for what he's worth (which is a damn sight more than £300k) or to play him regularly next season. Not to lose him for £300k! So angry!

Words fail me. Here is a lad who by all accounts has excelled in Greece and helped his club into Europe by both scoring goals and setting them up. The fact that we currently have very few players of this ilk you'd think we would give him at least one year at most to see if he can reproduce that form with us.
Then to find we will accept £300k for him must have his Greek club laughing all the way to the bank.
By the time the pre season training starts we'll be lucky to have a squad of enough players for a 11 a-side game.

Did Pardew not state only recently he was one who he would give an opportunity to?

I'm sure he said he wanted to assess Tav and Abeid in pre season. Something has changed somewhere along the line and it can only be finances. Again.

Rediculous. What is going on. We literally will only just avout have 11 players to put on the pitch at this rate and they will probably all be LB's

Howcome when we sell a player only the transfer fee is mentioned, when we buy 1 (I know, I know) it's tranfer fee, wages, agent fees, bus fares etc

I see Amalfitano has now also left the club and is back in France permanently. Surely someone must want Obertan?

Being positive i see Abeid going as a good thing.

He won't be foisted upon us now as the replacement for Cabaye, so no soundbytes to come from Pardew how he's unearthed some wonder kid from Greece. Squad player at best and a gamble at that having played in one of the poorer and least competitive leagues in Europe.

I'd have liked to keep Abeid as back up. I think him and Tav had done enough on loan to warrant that. We are not a Man U or Chelsea though, coming back from a successful loan to play bench warm at us is not quite as appealing to these young lads. Probably unavoidable.
