For me, that is the main thing I will take from this season. I always rated him but even I never expected him to become this good. His importance to us has been astonishing. We just look like a different team when he is in the middle and even makes Giroud look good. He is the only CM we have that is actually willing to run beyond the opposition defence, and without him, we are the ultimate side to side team. There was some on here moaning that we gave Ramsey a pay rise and new contract just a month ago, but Wenger clearly knew what he was doing there. Because, if Ramsey keeps on playing like this, then he can be up there with the best CM's in the world, as he has everything in his game.

The only fear is that if we do not progress from a team that only battles to make for the top four to a team that battles and has a real chance of winning the PL and CL, then even Ramsey might consider his future, because no doubt that likes of Real Madrid and co will be circling if Ramsey feels like that he can't go to the next level at Arsenal. We got the perfect player to build a proper team around and I just hope that we do not **** it up.

People forget just how good he was prior to the injury he suffered in Feb 2010. Was nothing short of sensational that year. Remember a screamer he scored against Portsmouth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9IetxqXGm4

Ramsey has been excellent. I've also been considering our stance on Diaby.

He has suffered 3 horrific tackles, each one sincerely dreadful. no professional should expect to suffer even one of these tackles let alone 3 of them. Making out that he is just someone that breaks down without cause is really mean to the guy.

It may all be for naught because he is out of contract in the summer, but I do think we as fans should have been a bit kinder. There is still a chance he might be like Ramsey and come good. I think we should have learned something from the Ramsey episode.

I don't think fans have been unkind to him it's just his injury problems have become a joke.I remember him coming on as a sub at Amfield a few seasons ago.He wasn't on the pitch long before he injured himself. The lad has a lot of talent and I think all Arsenal fans would love to see him succeed but unfortunately I just don't think it's going to happen.

Its really good to see Ramsey turn it all around and be one of our best players. As for Diaby, I don't think anyone on here has been unkind to him, more to do with that we know how good he is but he is never available for us. Its the frustration really, but now I feel more sad for him that he hasn't been able to fulfill his talent for himself and for us. But it seems that Ramsey has filled the void really well.

Look it's a rap for Diaby since Dan **** smashed his ankle Diaby will never be the same and I have read that one of his legs is built like a 12 year old which is going to be a problem as a professional footballer!

I've championed Diaby for years, initially as a joke, later because I had the utmost admiration for his resilience (not physically but mentally) in coming back from set back after set back. Yes he has been paid well but most would have sacked it in by now and just retired rich and lazy. He hasn't, he's still desperately trying to get back to the top level and the mental strength to do that is admirable.

I do wonder how good he will ever end up though. At his best he's a brilliant player capable of adding a whole new dimension to the team and is one of our few midfielders who drives forward bar Aaron. Problem is, I think we're forgetting that he had quite a few off days and moments. Some of this will be down to never getting a long run in the side but it's hard to say with certainty exactly how good Diaby is/can be!

That's the big question, will he ever get to prove it?

He's one of those players who if he does get over his injury issues could well be one of the best players in the league. But he just doesn't stay injury free for long enough to show everyone just how good he is.

He's big strong, quick, skill full, direct. It's a real shame he has the problems he does.

How much is he worth? £25m?

Also do you think Ramsey will be loyal unlike your recent players if a bigger club wants him?

    He is class though!

Top 10 goals for Aaron Ramsey? He's only scored 25 for us so that's 40% of his goals! <whistle>

But yeah, very impressed this season. Needs someone alongside him like Bender and then our central midfield is a powerhouse.

There's absolutely no chance of him going anywhere for an offer less than 40mil. He has the longest contract of any player at the club and is clearly a player we are going to build around.

I'm pretty sure your 25mil statement was meant as a wind up though.

He just signed 2 new contracts with us in a space of a year, I'd say he's a loyal fella. :D.

He's been with us 6 years and won nothing. I don't think he'd hang around for another 6 with just one (potential) FA Cup winners medal.

    Arsenal87.

Not really disagreeing with him. But I don't think signing a contract indicates loyalty (always). I've got no problem with a player playing for a club for years then moving elsewhere to try and win something.

My impression is that Ramsey does currently love this club. If the next 6 years pan out like the first 6 of his Arsenal career though I don't see why we should expect him to be completely loyal to us.

Employees move all the time in the real world. If I get a better opportunity to work elsewhere then I'd be off. Ramsey has great opportunities with us right now (to a certain extent depending on the vision you think we have at the club). But job satisfaction to a footballer would be (1) playing with players and manager(s) he enjoys, (2) winning trophies, (3) earning a rewarding salary.

At some point, (2) will surely start impinging on his satisfaction here if the next 6 years pan out like the last 6.

    (2) and (3) will never be separated, so listing them in order is completely pointless. Evidence suggests that our success is irrelevant to player retention. Check what happened to our Invincible team.
