I honestly thought he was outstanding last night. He had pace, height and strength to deal with the Yeovil attack. Would anyone consider playing him against Bournemouth if you were manager? COYR!
Yes I also thought he was great tonight, although there was that time he took 1 to many touches and nearly cost us! But thats something experiance will sort out. I would play Jaidi because we need someone who can win headers against steve fletcher!
Having two quickish central defenders would be a bonus in my view, although do Bournemouth rely on aerial balls into the box? I think if I were manager I think Young Aaron would get the nod....but hey what do I know!
We also have Sebo although he had a couple of less than good games, may have been hampered by the "injury", he is a better option if you want a balance, but only if the Jedi is not ready.
He seemed reasonable enough but apart from a Davis near post stop and when they hit the bar out of nowhere there was no threat yesterday. I would not panic if any of our 4 centre backs were playing.
Aaron has shown enough surely for us to get him signed up. For Saturday I think I would probably start with Jaidi and have Aaron ready to step in late on. Unless of course Nigel really does think he is ready to go. I am happy now to see Aaron getting some playing time as it will help him in the long term and us as we think more and more about next season and who we will be using as our regular starting eleven.
Fletcher can't get through a whole game these days! I think any of Fonte, Martin or Jaidi would be able to match him if they tried hoofing it to him. Seaborne wouldn't cope well with Fletcher backing into him. Personally, I'd opt for Jaidi as he'll be fresh for it and he's probably more suited to scrapping in a difficult game.
i would start jaidi, in my view martins definatly not ready for the bournemouth match, if we win we will go above bournemouth and surely be favourites for that second place spot, if we lose however bournemouth will be 6 points clear, definatly no game to be playing a young and very unexperienced centre half!
I would have him on the bench though as a safety valve because I can't see Cherries giving us an easy game.
I didn't think he was outstanding tbh , did fairly well but he's WAY too right footed to play at left-centre-back. Will turn out to be a fantastic defender in years to come nonetheless.
I didnt think he had the best of games and was very lucky on a few occasions! Fonte maybe made him look a bit better than he was. Having said that he is defiantely one for the future and will be a big player for us I would definately start Jaidi, its one thing keeping Yeovil's strikers out but it will be a damn site harder with the Cherries
Martin wasn't at his best Tuesday night. I have to agree he didn't look outstanding tbh. Too many naive mistakes. I thought the crowd around us were unfair to boo him when he kept passing the ball back & skyed/hoofball. Thank goodness Yeovil weren't quick else we could of easily been 1-1 after his slack pass. Felt sorry for him but have to agree with the fans it is too important to risk anything. Glad Adkins kept him on as subbing him ( around us was asking for) would of done his confidence no good. Agree one for the future but far too right footed to play Left CB. Jaidi to start. Seaborne if fit or Martin if Jaidi tires
Got to say No, Martin shouldn't start tomorrow. Too big a game for him. Jaidi if he is fit. Got to play the big man . Martin during Yeovil s game put us under too much pressure, trying to play the ball from the back. Few stray passes & yeah got to agree with Saints fan 4 life looked too right footed. Agree one for the future but not for a local derby. Not fair on the lad either, as the crowd did start to get on his back Tuesday. Try him another time.
One good thing about him playing on the left is the fact that he is gaining experience. Top Centre Backs need to be able to use their weakest foot as well in my opinion. He has the temperament and talent to make it as our regular CB once Jaidi has retired. The good thing for me is that he would be able to step in if Fonte was injured(god forbid). Not yet as good by any means but would not let the side down.
Not the best time of the session to try out new players but with Seaborne injured & Jaidi ? rested. It was good Martin got his chance. He did well at Colchester to relieve the tired Jaidi as Seaborne injured, he was only available CB. But we were disappointed with his Yeovil performance. Perhaps we expected too much from him seeing his lack of experience. Different coming on at 2 or 3 nil, than starting the game. But good for him to experience first team football. Jaidi in particular can use both his feet & looks as good with either. Can play L CB or R CB. I also like Seaborne & hope he is fit soon. Good that he is naturally left foot & can use his right. Naturally left footed which is rare & he can actually play the ball out of defence. Poor at Peterborough, but has been good this season for us. We are so lucky to have the CB's we have as all of them can step in & play either positions. Nice to have a mix with older & younger players.
