Our old boy, Aaron Hughes, is on the verge of getting his 100th cap for Northern Ireland.

Aaron is expected to reach the milestone in the final Euro 2016 warm-up friendly against Slovakia in Trnava tomorrow. The only other NI player to reach the 100 is Pat Jennings.

Not bad for a lad who made his debut against the same team back in March 1998 and who, temporarily as it turned out, retired from International football in 2012. Speaking to the Belfast Post he said he'd been inspired from playing alongside two centurions at Fulham, the Republic of Ireland's Damian Duff and Greek midfielder Georgios Karagounis adding,

"Damian had just got his 100 and Karagounis was there too so I was sat there with a couple of lads who were sitting there with a hundred caps and I thought it would be pretty cool to have that. To walk away at the end of your career and look back on it, it's something no-one can ever take away so I feel a great deal of pride."

Currently without a club, Aaron has made just under 500 appearances at a senior League level; 196 of them with Fulham.

Oh for the return of those days when we had reliable Center backs and you didn't have to panic everytime there was a breakaway attack.
Congrats to Aaron on hopefully making his century, and may be a few more in the Euros.

Aaron came of the bench tonight and duly earned his 100th cap.
